I just got an htc evo shift, am I affected?This is good for you, the developers will now start working on new ROMs (modified Operating System) they will add new features and take unneeded things trying to enhance the performance or modifying CPU, Wallpapers, Sense, Luncher etc..

By locking it, the Android version becomes fixed and unchangeable. By unlocking it, you can install different Android versions.

simple user, 11 Jul 2011however google announced they will progressively close the source, to achieve more stability...As soon as that starts, an alternative will come about, people working on the last fully-open source version.
If you are referring to v3/3.1, then no worries as Google have already stated why they didn't release the source.

how about an fm transmitter in one of your flagship phones ? Like evo 3d sensation desire s desire hd or whixhever. You can claim of beying the first to put an fm transmitter in an android.
