I don't know why you guys are surprised about the S9's design. This is part of Samsung's design strategy for years now.
The S5 has a similar design with the S4
The S7 has a similar design with the S6
And now, the S9 design will be similar with the S8
With this, we can expect a brand new design with the S10. Just because the iPhone X shows up, doesn't mean Samsung should go against their own business strategy, which they probably planned ahead years ago.

Looks like a slight itera... moreNot just fp placement, but it'll have some slight improvement over the S8, like bigger battery, more efficient processor, display etc. This might be only a slight improvement over the Galaxy S8 but this is a big improvement over the Galaxy S7 & S6.

the design is getting boring. Same like if people can complain about Sony's design, I could say the same as well.
I have a Note 8, and I'm happy with it by the way.

Other japanese brands use it too ( minor brands).
