shame, but I blame QC for that. They are the ones dropping the support, and OEMs have to deal with it

Now they don't even have a market share to begin with. Plus on support front a lot of the time it's chip manufacturers who drop support for old chips. And I can imagine SD 808/810 being the disasters they were is not something Qualcomm wld want to work on in 2017/18
My old iPhone 6 64 gb still gets updates .. a fact

If you don’t like apple products or can’t afford them, nobody is forcing you to buy them. Leave that to the people who appreciate quality over cost.

Many de... moreWell I'm certainly among the aPple haters in here, but the 5 and 6 were not equal, different chipsets for both cpu and graphics as you can see from the link you provided. Sure they are FUNCTIONAL pretty equivalent, but that could be said for a vast number of 'upgrades' for about any brand.
...But we are taking this thread astray.
The point that aPple upgrade their devices with newer version of Ios for longer than other manufacturers is true, we have to give the greedy sods that point. That the devices usually perform worse after major upgrades is another story. In theory it COULD be new inner functionality harder to do with older chipsets - but I find it much more likely it is part of their planned obsolescence to trick people to upgrade.
Unfortunetly Blackberry is losing its market share quite rapidly. BB uses the same update system other major brands do, samsung, huawei, LG, OnePlus which isn't helping.
At least 3 years worth of OS updates and 4 years security updates would have been the sweet spot but making this, peolpe would rather stick to their unit and not buy another smartphone. BB expects after 2 years they buy another BlackBerry but people tens to go to other OEMS for much better support and faster updates.
To bad seeing once a big OEM losing so much ground after a few years.
It still impresses me they are still alive. It's not even available in stores here in portugal.

Many decide not to purchase iPhones despite the wonderful service and being updated 4 years later, whatever
Maybe the extortionate prices, maybe the lack of memory expansion so you pay for the 64Gb over the 16, 32Gb
Maybe fir those who don't know Apple re-released the IPhone5 4 inches, two years later as the 4.7 inch iPhone 6 minor tweak adding the non phone related Apple Pay https://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?&idPhone1=4910&idPhone2=6378&idPhone3=7242
Anyone on a two year iPhone 5 contract, upgraded to the same phone with bigger display
Selling the same phone twice pure Apple...
Gumby, 15 Dec 2017How is it decades ahead? :)HUB for example, still nothing like IOS or Android are having.
Typing from my BlackBerry PRIV. This really IS sad. But I don't regret buying the phone. I desperately needed a phone with Keyboard and PRIV fits the bill.
Will I buy the Keyone? I don't know. I still want some other brands e.g. Sony to release a PKB phone. But at the end of the day, I will have to be content with BB.
"... discounts and incentives to upgrade their device to a new Keyone or Motion." - I will only upgrade to a horizontally sliding QWERTY; not interested in KeyOne or Motion at all!
Bewildered , 15 Dec 2017Wow iPhones, still FYI Windows phone 7 was Single core with no memory expansion. Windows 8 ... moreAnd FYI I already know all this and couldn’t care less about expandable storage. 64gb on a phone is more than enough space. The quality I expect from my devices just cannot be found on an android and yes I’ve tried high end phones but didn’t like the them. Not to mention android OS being a sloppy laggy mess.

Windows 8 Dual Core plus memory expansion, yet here we are in 2017 Apple no memory expansion
The monthly security patches are essentially Google looking at Android its own OS
Android has third party Anti Virus, Anti Theft app like Trustgo and Avast as well as PC malware which also provide PC anti virus.
Only when there was a potential lethal virus did Google start monthly updates.
Google Imo are releasing Android versions too fast, possibly to out do IOS, clearly Oreo was pushed out too soon
BB10 OS albeit on now old Blackberry do not and will not be prone to the malware that plagues Android
In short losing monthly updates means you should if you haven't already done so install a third party anti virus app.
BB10 QNX is the OS Blackberry is developing for driverless cars
Gilda, 15 Dec 2017Meanwhile the 4 year old iPhone 5S is still getting the latest updates....you can hate all you... morenothing to hate, but for the price of 5s you could buy 2 android devices. device 1 used for 3 years then purchase 2nd device use for another 3 years with latest hardware/feature. so bb priv is 2.5 years old? but they paid half what 5s cost. now its time to get new device with latest features. so hows face id working on 5s?
Sad but not unexpected. ;-(
Actually I bet they could have SOLD 12 or 24 more months of security updates to quite a large portion of the current Priv users. They could have tried selling it to us by crowdfunding and see if they got enough backers. I for one would be likely to do so - depending on the price of course.
But it is rubbing salt into the wound to suggest to 'upgrade'. As they offer no real upgrades....
The Priv is the ONLY keyboard slider phablet out there. The ONLY possible upgrade is the Moto-Z series device and a Keyboard mod
https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/keyboard-mod-a-physical-keyboard-for-...
(Two variants, with or without additional battery for the phablet - ordered both)
OR you can have a sliding keyboard case, using BT, for a few phablets. IP6- for one, if you can stand the horrible IOS (I couldn't)
I feel sad for those five souls who actually bought it.
Lol I forgot blackberry still exist anyways I really like the slide out keyboard of priv hope someone launches another phone like this
Blackberry, the biggest zombie on the market...Don´t know what they´re still doing.....
Meanwhile the 4 year old iPhone 5S is still getting the latest updates....you can hate all you like but nothing beats apple when it comes to updates and customer service.
owner, 15 Dec 2017Yes, but BBOS is still decades ahead of any other OS.How is it decades ahead? :)
