Mi6 has bad screen, no ip68, bad LTE, bad camera, bad ui, lacks features... how is that on this list???
This article must be written by a giant over 200cm heights.
I don't get why people even bother voting for Pixel 2 or iPhone 8.... The question is best compact of 2017, don't know about others on the list but these 2 do not belong to 2017, they belong to at best in 2016, if not for A11, iPhone 8 could easily belong in the year 2015 :P..... Google should wake up its design team from slumber, even iPhones are having wireless charging now :P.... No amount of stock software experience, at least in flagship category, is worth inferior or outdated hardware, flagships have enough custom ROMs, you get best software experience either way...... S8 should win this easily but we all know Pixel trolls won't give up without fight.... :P
I am not sure if S8 should be there, but it definitely destroys competition and no doubt, the best one. If we really looking at the size and power ratio, I guess Z1 compact does not have competition there
According to your tool gsmarena the current (2016-2017) and real compact phones are the following :
and as anyone can find our there are no quality options, except sony compacts or iphone se. We should consider minis or compacts only phones equal or below to 4.7 inches according to samsung (it produced a reduced size phone only with s3 generation, that was made 4.8 in big, and followed with s4 and s5). Also according to Apple a phone shouldn't exceed 4.0 in so it can be used with a single hand (steve jobs). So Apple never considered a 4.7 inches iphone 6/6s/7/8 regular iphone a "compact". So for compacts we should stop at 4.6 inches as sony did.
from the above list if we restrict the options to 8mp minimum camera (even samsung s2 had 8mp or iphone 4s) and 1gb ram (minimum for today's use) so we come out only with 7 options
Anonymous, 18 Dec 2017Mi6 = no hdr screen, no ip68, no 1 Gigabit LTE, midrange camera, midrange LCD, bad uiMan rest is the same.
HDR screen good for what?
Noone matters if you have QHD or FULL HD.
IP68? For what? Do you swim with your phone? Or call a friend durring heavy rain?
Or you are clumsy enough to drove your phone into toilet at your neighbour party? I dont think so.
1 GB LTE? For what? Data it have are enough for the rest you can use wifi or cable. And transfer anything from your pc into your phone. You asking for something which is not needed.
Mid range Camera Mid range LCD? Man get a profesional camera not a phone for photos.
Even a Google pixel 2 dont have as god camera as Nikon for just 100 or 150 eur. And this is a 1000 eur phone compared to 100 eur camera. Trust me MI6 camera is good enough to get all the memories from all the hollidays you will have.
Mid range LCD is same like my first answer. Having FULL HD or QHD doesnt matters. The difference is so small noone will care about. Its just stupid add on which makes the phone much more expensive.
Bad UI? How you got that? Did you tryied this phone? Have it in hands? I dont think so.
Anyway having no UI is sometimes better. Motorola phnes have Android one i mean clean pure android without any rubbish everybody can dowload at its own and is not needed in a phone when you first time run it.
Lastly i repeat again 370 eur compared to phones which cost 2-3 times more.
All add-ons you asking for cost 2-3 times more and makes almost no difference.
All you want is just stupid crap which cost lot of money but add nothing usefull nothing that makes sense or prove this phone isnt good enough as it is.
XZ1c is compact
iSE is compact.
only these two.
there you have it, a winner for android environment and another winner for ios environment.
ALL the other phones mentioned in the poll are NOT compact, but regular bricks.
when you go bigger than 130 mm tall then you're not in compact territory anymore.
only sony compact series (z1c,z3c,z5c,xc,xz1c), and iphone 5/5s and se are considered compact. the rest do not have quality mini since s4 mini, lg g2 mini, xiaomi mi 2s, nexus 4, Huawei Ascend P6.
what is this article gsmarena ? You want to convince us that 5.8 inches are compact ? so the rest phablets/notes are regular ? So what is big ? tablets only ?
Smartphone companies have to try harder to convince us that 5.8 in are compact or else they have to find a way to enlarge our hands!!!!
What about the Essential Phone? With all of the recent software update to this phone (and price drop), the Essential Phone is now a serious contender.
Easy choice. The XZ1 Compact is the only truly compact option.
The rest of them would be called "phablets" three years ago.
Hoping Samsung will start making a S9 mini, without skimping on performance.
The Galaxy S8 FTW. But the iPhone 8 is a close second IMO
I don't know why you guys are complaining about GSMArena's list of compact phone. All of these phone are small and really easy to use.
For the sake of argument. Here's a comparison between the iPhone 8 and the Galaxy S8
Easy. The winner is Sony XZ1 Compact. Why?
Because the rest aren't compact! They're regular phones. Duhhh..
Admin, put your glasses on..
Compact : 4"-4.9"
Regular : 5"-5.5"
Phablet : 5.5"-6.5"

Anonymous, 17 Dec 2017In terms of sizing compared to the other compacts they're close Yes but a 6inch bezel less phone is harder to use than a 5inch with big bezels
