They Are not looking new features, They Are looking if the phone works at all... so betas Are important. If They Are done poorly we see Brigged phones, security holes, slow responses to commands. Some features stop working... all the things that you don`t want to see when you release update and still it happens quite often.

These beta tests aren't to inquire about new features to be added, they are about stability to be reached. If you get 1000 users to test your beta-ROM, you will be much more likely coming across (breaking) bugs that can or need to be squished, before the stable ROM can be released, than when you do it in an office environment with only a couple of dozen phones.

These beta's basically ensure that the average end-user will get an as stable as possible product to work with.

How the f would you fully test a device with only a handful of people. There is no way they could actually test the phone that way because testing requires real usage, not just opening a few apps. Many of bugs that occur need very specific circumstances. Either some specific app downloaded, setting used or etc. You probably don't understand how development works. I'd never let you be in charge of a company that way.

i always wondered why companies are letting regular users beta test thier software and never realy implement the recommendations from users. what is the duties of thier R&D personnel anyway aren't they supposed to be thinking of new features for these phones. its getting boring now to always read about these companies and thier beta programs why won't they do thier work and deliver good products that we pay for. what's next realy telling users to write thier own OS for a handset worth $1000 or more
