abc.to.xyz.000, 28 Dec 2017Look at the prices of similar spec'd phones. I am not including Xiaomi or Meizu otherwise it w... moreWell... In my country, Nokia 6 only slightly more expensive compared to Mi A1 which has 4/64 ram/storage.

A1 wins on using slightly older but higher tier 625, 4/64, has dual camera (12+12 MPs).

Nokia 6 wins on 8 MP of front cam, NFC, Gyro, Compass, Dolby Atmos (gimmick maybe, but still better for those who want better audio experiences), and stronger build quality.

If you see Zenfone 4 Selfie from Asus (which also in similar price point), it even offer lower specs in certain area. Screen only HD, no NFC, and no monthly security updates (they might have Oreo updates later on, but that's it). Although it also has plus point on having 4/64 like A1 has and has gyro & compass like Nokia 6 has.

Even Oppo and Vivo fight in similar price point and features (win in some aspect, lose at others).

It's all about plus and minus. I won't compare those devices to the likes of Huawei, ZTE, or even Meizu since they have minimum (Huawei, ZTE) to nearly nonexistence (Meizu and other non common brands) after sales support on my country. Sure they sell cheaper devices. But once it has problems, we'll face difficulty to fix it since supports are extremely limited (we as me and my fellow country men, not you who might have different circumstances).

ZloiYuri, 20 Dec 2017Huh. People will think after thst "heartwarming" ad these chinaphones are really made by Nokia... moreOnly geeks thinking that way. Most common people are thinking Nokia devices are product of Nokia from the get go (not Foxconn, not even HMD, the licensee of the brand).

abc.to.xyz.000, 28 Dec 2017Look at the prices of similar spec'd phones. I am not including Xiaomi or Meizu otherwise it w... moreNow I have not bought any of these new Nokias(although I have used other peoples phones), and I dont like Android (specially googles bloated version where you can't uninstall Play book and Gmail bloatware), but most people (specially on the internet) seem to have this idea that somehow Androids problems can be solved by removing any sort of modifications to it(which I believe is utter nonsense)

In any case, Nokia has its work cut out for it:
-No revenues by installing third party apps(even those which can be installed)
-no changing settings, skinning or anything else which can (potentially) generate revenue
-commitment to spend loads of money on updates(otherwise whats the point of 'pure' android?)

Those who believe in this pure android garbage should pay extra for Nokia devices.

Nokia always made expensive phones but the quality and service made it worth it.
They cant do that now because hmd has a much smaller operation but they are still better than most.
They are also restricted by the OS and Soc options.

Do realize that Nokia is only selling cheap Chinese android phones (slightly better build quality) at higher prices using its brand name.

As compared to how Samsung and Apple are robbing now, Nokia sailed better over the years. They could have done the same, but didn't.

and again, these gimmicks of Snapdragon, Samsung OLED etc. are only added to artificially increase the production price of product so that they can have bigger share of profit margin. If a Finnish company can produce it all for a decades, it should be walk in the park for US giants.

The only differences is that back then Nokia rules on the hardware, camera, screen, chipset, software and all.. Nowadays software is Standard Android and hardware is Standard Quallcomm.. Even the displays are standard Samsung/LG amoled/lcd covered with standard gorilla glass

Symbian and BBos were much better. But what can manufacturers do? Customers are not very smart and just do what they are told to do by ppl on tv and the internet.
And they are told to get android filled with googles bloatware.
So manufacturers have no option but to make similar phones with little differentiation.
