This is so funny and about all watch the Apple's sheeps trying to justify this, lol. Congratulations, soon your new devices will receive the present in form of lower performance or pay 129-169$ standard price for repair-change the battery, 279$ in the case of iPhone X.

"Here at Apple, we want you to notice that your phone is getting old and slower, like your grandparents. However, we want to cripple your device without your consent so you get to buy more of our phones. Why? Our phones are becoming less and less innovative for a much higher price tag, so we gotta force your hand here."

Some people says that Apple is doing so to promote to sell new iphone, so-called planned obsolescence. But I think otherwise. Nowadays we replace a smartphone not because it is too slow, but because its battery time is too short. So limiting peak performance of old iphone with reduced battery capacity will extend battery time considerably and let owner to put off the purchase of new iphone for a time being. It is quite helpful improvement.

I wish Android fans would stop having a smug comment over every little thing Apple does. Go play with your Samsungs and LGs and leave us alone. Apple are slowing down the processors to preserve HARDWARE, the battery.

They only need to be careful not to break delicate stuff like flex cables and displays when dismembering the components fused by super glue.

People these days are lucky to have choices. Back then, we were stuck with just popping off the back cover to insert the new battery we bought from the mall. How inconvenient.
