The video stops every 3seconds,it's dissapointing, but the idea is not bad.
The biggest flaws with the video reviews are the lack of pauses in the audio between the different segments. Here's an example which can be found at 0:22 in the Xperia Arc video review: "...Gingerbread 2.3. The handset..." There's no notable pause where it should be, i.e. between "2.3" and "The". The lack of pauses is very annoying, and hinders me from thoroughly enjoying the video review.
Another thing that I must mention is that these videos aren't really video reviews. They're basically audio reviews with corresponding pictures, and the occasional mandatory short clips of the user interfaces. I would like to see videos that are directly linked to the audio, instead of getting an audio review and some random video clips.
Apart from that, I think you're on to something good, and I wish you all the best!
Regards from a GSMArena fan :)
Definitely too short for such devices. I prefer more detailed reviews.
Hi guys! I prefer written reviews. But if you put a small video in each section of review. it will be really great!
I liked both reviews, but I would like to add some feedback, that in my opinion might improove. I think it would be nice to combine written review with video review. The backgorund sound could have been a tad less louder. I liked the in-video information from the Samsung Galaxy S II review. I think 5-7 minutes is about the maximum length (for a combined written and video review). And one more thing: I think the quiality would be better if you would move from YouTube to Vimeo.
A video review is a good idea to see the device performing, but do not skip the text review in exchange! Each one has its benefits.
well, just leave those hardware spec out of the video review. Those are better represent using words and picture as oppose to video and speech. A few highlight of the main spotlight of hardware feature is more than enough.
I like video reviews because they give us the real feal of the device. Gsmarena is my favourite mobile website but untill now i had no choice but watch other video reviews. One thing i would like to see is real time video review(or whatever its called) your sample reviews have the the
voice added after the video was shot and I didnt like that. And also the reviews should be of atleast 8-10 minutes. Thats all I have to say. I hope my favourite website will think about my suggestions.
i think the reviewer was Hurry to go to the loo... he speaks so fast that review becomes irritating
Hi guys..i've been following you site for the past ..i don't know 6-7 years, visiting at least a few times a week and your reviews have always been amazing.. these video reviews are great if you want to get a general opinion on a phone but please..don't abandon the written ones, since those are the ones that made you the no 1 mobile phones site:D keep it up!
Ya, web-page could be made more appealing.. but this one s not bad.. I love the page layout.. Don't change it.. Just try to improve the eye-candy of blank space.. :P But that shouldn't be sucking much bandwidth.. Now you have got a new task..
The video reviews are nice.. But may be you could take a breath or two in between.. :)
I think this is actually a good idea, making a video review. These have the potential to become very popular if done in the proper manner. I think what would be best is a single video file, 10 minutes at most (for some simple phones less than 10 minutes could prove enough)
This could be like the video review different site make for games. A picture is worth more than a thousand words, and 10 minutes multiplied by at least 24 pictures every second could be everything one could hope for.
Keep it real gsm arena!
i Find the review is kinda good, i just have three notes
1- you can use this side to side to written reviews
2- the images could be more in sync with speech i mean that show more precisely what is being said at the moment
3- make the video more a bit exploring on extra features, like one minute in the end of every video to show the phone's unique functionality
otherwise this is kinda a good idea and i liked the videos very much
Thanks GSMARENA for being awesome
this is better for busy people who can't afford time to read all the pages for the written review. but personally i much prefer this kind of review since i don't have much time. very easy to acces. just sit down and relax while watching the video review and there you got it (every special gist of the review). good innovation gsm arena. keep up the good work.
Just like to add one thing. The webpage is getting a bit old. There is nothing wrong with it, but just a little facelift would make everything better :)
I think they're a pretty good addition since it gives you a quick overview of the device if you don't have the time or the patience to read the whole review, but if you're going to ditch the written review for the video ones. Don't even think about doing that. I love the in depth written reviews, which I only find on GSMArena and no other site. Pretty great review though, I think it would be a pretty good addition in the future! :)
