This just proves that Apple products have third class hardware (battery) it deteriorates faster than other manufacturers. Still they charge so much premium on their devices. Shame on them.

If the slow down of their phone doesn't affect day to day use then i don't see the problem if it's to prolong the life of the battery, though they should have given consumers a choice.

So Apple actually owes users a free battery replacement, not a discount.
Anonymous, 29 Dec 2017You mean the $ 30 that is cheaper than having the battery replaced by every other company. Yea... moreI meant offering free replacements but if you feel after paying top dollars for a premium device, you are willing to shell another mere $30 is no harm for something that was hidden and now out, then I respect your opinion and understand the fact all this is fine now. Keep paying for someone's else fault and make them believe they can get away with anything!

Fanboyism everywhere. Why there has to be so much hate in this world. I‘m leaving this comment section, it‘s completely messed up
Ok why the hell Apple want to charge money if users want to replace their battery without the warranty? Hmm? They did this secretly behind all of the users's iPHONEs without explaining to them the issue when they started doing this? Oh wait, explaining it earlier could already have led them to bankruptcy, woops. But they shouldn't have charged money for battery replacement since they did it secretly behind user's back, they owed the users, so they might as well make the battery replacement some kind of free warranty or so. With that being said, Apple is sure really greedy, they owe the users but still charge them money if the users want to replace the battery. One of my oldest ANDROID smartphones I used for 4 years still didn't have any random shutdown without the OEM underclocking the chipset. What does this show? Business. Apple is just greedy for their business man
[deleted post]All these spokespersons or fanboys should learn to be fair and acceptable to a certain point. Why this culture of blind following for? Who benefits from it? At the end of the day, keep bragging but don't look or act stupid for God's sake! Give credit where due and be fair at times. I am surprised with the tone of this article and pathetic portrayal of how things look like!

$79 for a battery? And planned obsolescence can work for apple since iOS user have no other options but in android it cant work
[deleted post]Exactly. The article sadly shows if Apple have done no wrong & it's just basic technicalities or user preferences for better performance that was responsible!
they issued apology to their customers
their statement was last week
Sorry, but Sony has special technology Qnovo that takes extra care of battery life preventing premature degradation. Apple and every other company should do this instead of capping performance and being not transparent at all about this.
Well this is now clear but the fuss is legtimate considering the price Apple charges for their devices and second, the lack of communication/transparency or whatever one calls it did with it's loyal custoners. If we pay, we have the right to know! Wonder what those feel who paid their hard earned money after this update was pushed and made the device under performing. Sorry but still making folks pay $30 for affected devices, I have no words for the greed Apple commands now. Unfair and dubious practice.
