Even the iPhone 5s is still supported. The slowing down (under very heavy loads) is reported as imperceptible to most and it's there to actually improve the user experience on older hardware -- the opposite of planned obsolescence.
The headline is somewhat incorrect, as it is not really random "users" who filed the lawsuits, but law firms which make their money by filing class action suits. The real users will get a penny, while the law firms will settle for millions in fees.
But Apple did drop the price of battery replacements to $29 in response, which is good news for iPhone users.

1)get an apology for some one's rude comment online and
2) to get treated with respect online
I do apologize if you find this comment offense, but you really need a thicker skin. Your complaining and whining is just as bad as the previous poster's insult. That person likely won't change, but you can! If your able to just ignore the trolls and otherwise rude posters you'll find your experience better, but by not engaging with such people you'll create a better community overall.

The battery is pretty much degraded but the phone still works ... moreWith the S4 at least you can replace the old battery very easy, if they are still available online. I honestly miss phones with removable batteries, but that was something to trade in when we got phones made out of glass or metal.
