Absolute shocker attitude from apple. Now they are trying To rinse us more, out of their questionable intention to slow it down....
So... in case you don't comply with Google spying you what great alternative is left. Really, this duopoly gets on the nerve.

mir, 29 Dec 2017No point in having the fastest chipset when it'll just get throttled in the future. It won't if you install a new battery after the old ones starts degrading (as you should anyway).
BTW this $29 scheme should exist by all OEMs and for all models. Since they decided to seal the batteries against our will, *they* should pay the cost not us. Batteries are/is a consumable . If you seal that *without* giving any guarantees to the consumer (apart from the usual 1 year warranty) you're f****ing the consumer over.
For example all electcric cars companies gives you a warranty that extends almost to a decade as far as batteries go, *because* they're known to degrade with heavy use. The fact that OEMs decided to penalize heavy users lately (by sealing the battery) should be an offense that can be pursuit in a court of law.
I hope the latest with Apple would start a sea of change that will take over the whole industry. Samsung and co (that proudly made public statements that they're innocent bystanders in this debacle) are very much in fault as well. Yeah, they don't throttle your phone, but they very much penalize you for heavy use and we know that it was a very targeted decision of their *because* one of their prominent features used to be them *not* doing that.
The low guaranties for sealed batteries are certainly in the grey zone. If you seal it *you* will pay it, not us. If you want us to buy your new phone make it exciting, don't preplan the obsolescence of your current model....
