Anonymous, 31 Dec 2017Just cosmetic changes... Stock android isn't better than that. What changed from android 5 to ... moreFrom Android 5 to 8, there's significant "under the hood" changes that separates it as an "OS" rather than MIUI with clearly the term UI in its name. Stuff you can't just rip off line by line into an older version and call that new?

MIUI is not an Android fork get that out of your head.

Giving some half baked software and saying we update our old phones weekly is completely wrong. I just said my experience. Thank you!

Anonymous, 31 Dec 2017There are others wo have even more stock, like Motor.. I mean Lenovo Moto.Okay, but they don't really release updates as fast as Sony despite having an even closer to stock software.
                          Also another one is OnePlus.

Ok so I found a workaround to received the Oreo update on your MiA1. Just clear data and force stop the Google Services Framework then restart.

Stock android isn't better than that. What changed from android 5 to 8? Even if xiaomi updated their phones to later android versions, you would see no difference unlike with miui versions. Miui is very separated from original android. You could even call it a os in itself. Do you expect newer android to make your issues magically disappear? It would make everything worse.

Anonymous, 31 Dec 2017The update is from Google, not Xiaomi. The update is from Google, but Xiaomi released it to the phone since it is their own product with only stock Android.
If Google is in control of updating the Mi A1, then the phone must have been in line with the original Pixel at getting the Oreo update (because Google releases their updates earlier than any other brand).
