Companies should focus on providing far better battery life and at least 2-3 years of timely updates.
Triple camera, oh my, what are manufacturers even doing? -_-
Google actually showed everyone that you can snap amazing pictures with only ONE camera.
So yeah, I would like phones to have only ONE camera, which can have a better aperture, bigger sensors, OIS, EIS, 4K and autofocus.
Well if we remove Apple Sony and Samsung we can get a decent phones for a decent price nothing else is needed :-)
Of Course iris

Physical QWERTY keyboard (like Motorola DROID 4)
Built in root support (i.e. phone shipped rooted).
16:9 screens (or better yet - 3:2, like most DSLRs and mirrorless cameras)
Replaceable batteries.
AnonD-664474, 07 Jan 2018Japanese researchers have just found a new type of glass that heals itself after shattering, t... moreI was just about to say that a shatterless display would be the best, but then it immediately crossed my mind that Sammy would go bankrupt in 2 months :))
Large & Removable capacity batteries. Durable & power-efficient AMOLED panels with top contrasting vividery. Multi-functional Home Button (with finger print scanner) similar to that of Lenovo P2. Prolonged software support & update for minimum of 3 years.
Most excited about finding who will come first without any bezels And notches for camera(samsung is the most likely).
Pixel2 competitors in camera image quality, then high resolution and high frame rate, but seeing sony new image "processing" may be also interesting on its own.
Lastly want to see some AR & 5G competition and unfolding as One AR world on streets, be it from mobile, glasses or some holosurface device.
In this era of 6" 18:9 behemoths , few purists are still waiting for 5 inch 16:9 bezel-less smartphone with a powerful chipset that would truly define compacy flagship category !
You show the excellent Light camera but don't include it in your vote!
Although the Light is flawed, it's Version 1.0 and if they can get acquired or more funding, they can perfect it. Ideally, Canon, Nikon or Panasonic will buy them and invest in the concept so we can enjoy a proper pocketable DSLR.
xXENDER FREAKXx, 07 Jan 2018Same here, Sony have been lagging behind these few years, they really need to catch up again, ... moreback in what? LOL
Most of mid-range smartphones today are up to the task of geting you over-connected, and flagships are up to the task to do the same with some more flare, but down to the bottom there have been no real game changers or technological shifts in the last 5 years. Even the cameras have reached to a point of "enoughness" where almost everybody (but me) is happy.
So the race have been on the cores, the battery, memory, and sadly in screens - where at this point nobody can tell the difference between ips, oled, amoled or any other acronym -
So I guess after thinking a little bit more... I'ld be excited about PRICE. Manufacturers have no real new technology for us in 2018, but flagships are getting higher and higher for doing the same they did in 2015... So, PRICE should be slashed... 50% would be the sweet spot.
screen more refresh rate
AnonD-664474, 07 Jan 2018960fps super slow motion. But it will never be a trend until Samsung and Apple start it.Stupid *ss trend. I'll still f*ckin love Sony what ever the "trend" is
Google phones really need optical zoom, HDR+ raw and a manual mode for the camera.
I thought this was a poll for 2018 features that you're most excited about, so I assume it's features already confirmed. Why is everyone giving out a list on what they want to see and have. It's suppose to be able fingerprint under the display, foldable display, graphene battery, etc
Anonymous, 07 Jan 2018Companies should listen to what you said That is better than my thoughts,"cramped shampoo bottle reading experience" lmao I'm dead
Also would like to see erased Samsung Sony and Apple from Market apart selling 25-50% times more expensive phones than onther competitors they offer nothing extra and researching useless technology nobody wants or asks for like Iris scanner where everyone have a slight chance to open a phone which does not belong to him, 4k displays which have no practical use on a 5 inch screen where human eye cant spot any difference between full HD and 4k. Curved screens which are resistant to screen protector and ou can have either a cover on phone or screen protector but not both because your cover will push your screen protector of from a phone.
And no more stupid UI like Samsung for example where you run the phone and half of the space or 75% n case of for example j3 model is filled with useless samsung apps which have no point of use. Especialy for a people who needs their phone for just dialing messaging and use of internet sometimes.
And the 64GB disk space in a phone could be a bare minimum in these days along with 3GB ram.
For example Xiaomi 4X cost around 150 these days and have same ram as apple X which cost 10 times more.
IAnd there is lot more we should call an innovation.
But i will hardly believe if a foldable screen will be the good start of innovations of 2018.
Anonymous, 07 Jan 2018Back to basics. Primarily anti-obsolescence features - pretty much like what the LG V20 off... moreNo.
