Anonymous, 18 Jul 2011What's the point of having such a small phone with a fast processor like this? What size have to do with performance?

Laurynas, 18 Jul 2011I didn't said that multitasking on single-core CPU is impossible! I have said that multitaskin... moreThe nokias e5, n900 and maybe even the n9 all have single core cpu yet they multitask better than any dual core device.
What's the point of having such a small phone with a fast processor like this?
With them sort of specs then S40 must now do multitasking surely??
we will see the fastest and the smoothest ever Qt UI on this platform!
Let me say this...
Average Joe don't need to know about Dual Core, Multitasking, SoSC, Arm, Snapdragon, etc...They want a good phone for basic use.
That's the strong point for Nokia, too much tech for my granny is not good, SG2 for my 8 years old niece is not wise, but a good, durable, phone is....
So, Nokia is not wrong with this, in fact, they want to dominate cheap phone market...and they will do it.

Tegra 2 and Exynos, on the other hand, have the ARM designed A9 cores. Their differences are very little and are things like cache sizes, not architectural differences.
P.S. I'm not talking about SoCs here, but CPUs. If you compare tegra 2 and exynos as whole packages, then exynos is faster, but still not much.
question is why would s40 need specs equal to second tier smartphone like galaxy S? I havent heard of any new changes in the OS.
CPW, 18 Jul 2011Nokia's model numbers are getting worse. People in the trade can't follow it, not to mind cust... moreAgree with you. C3-01.5? WTF is this model number? How are you even going to pronounce this? Nokia have become kind of stupid lately since Elop came into the scene.
Anyway, it is FACT that even the same CPU with the same clock speed on the different SoCs will give us different performance and stability. More or less, but it will!

AnonD-5397, 18 Jul 2011just wondering what those s60 and s^3 users are going through right now!!!There are rumors S60 will get Dual Cores, more RAM and additional stuff...
Let's see...but the technology can't be stopped....

But they all have different architecture from different SoC assembling companies. Exynos' architect is different from Tegra 2 and the same goes for Snapdragons....etc
AnonD-1393, 18 Jul 2011We are talking about CPU here, not GPU or other accelerators.I just have mentioned GPUs and accelerators because different SoC place different GPUs and other accelerators, just for that.
just wondering what those s60 and s^3 users are going through right now!!!
