My phone was 5.0.2 out of box, now 7.1.1.
The amount of space taken by SYSTEM is still the same.
About 9.5Gb.
New versions dont take more space..
Phones with 8GB, system uses 2.5. Then we have :
16GB / 5Gb system
32Gb/ 9.5 system
64GB/ 17.5 system.
If you buy a phone with 128 or 256Gb, system will take more. Dunno why.
A8 and A8+ come with android N.
S8 still has N.
No wonder why low numbers
Not surprising. Who wants to update their device if every update causes new bugs. But that's not the only issue. Older devices often work worse with new operating systems. Furthermore updates need more and more storage. The consequence is that devices with only 8GB storage become unusable very fast even when you don't install any apps and don't take any photos/videos. I recommend everyone to ignore Android updates.
Too many manufacturer having trouble implementing Oreo on their phones. So many beta programs we've seen in the article (saumsung's), retracted updates (OP5), pending update (U11).
Feels like the staffs on the software depts has to study again and harder to pass this exam...
So many obstacles, different skins, different carriers sure complicated things
I hope with Project Treble we will see phones shipped with Oreo, so we can potentially see better improvements when it comes to software updates.
