Thank you all for your replies !
From what i understand : Yes the resolution between the Vive and the S8+ are theoricaly the same, put HTC put it on Two 3.5" screens instead of one 6.2 screen. PLUS, the tehnology behind the screen is very important for the screen-door effect.
So :
- Better PPI per eye
- Better technology to supress screendor effect
= Better VR experience.

I'll have a try on the Oculus AND Vive tomorrow, so i'll be able to see the difference ;)

Lol this resolution good for nothing to support this amount of pix you need 2 graphics card around 3000 usd and you get unstable 60 fps
Second problem is conten the support of pc vr is close to 0 (the support of gear is -1) best options is sadly PS vr at least it gote some games even it's technicaly behind pc solution. Over all technology is to new now I hope that on ps5 we get experience without puking.

Kyuden, 09 Jan 2018I've a question, probably stupid, but still : I own a Gear VR 2017 that i use with a Galaxy S... moreI don't know what type of screen Vive uses, but the screen door efect is much more prominent on pentile matrix screens - like the ones used in Galaxy S series. Long story short, perceived resolution is lower that what's written on paper.
My old phone had a 4.7" 720p (312ppi) LCD screen, my current one has a 5.5" 1080p (400ppi) OLED screen (with pentile matrix). Despite OLED one having higher pixel densitiy I tend to notice the pixel grid a bit more often than with the old LCD.

      P.S.:
Just checked, the current Vive has pentile OLED, so I'm assuming the new one will have a similar panel. So the screen door effect will still be there, but at least not as bad as with the older model.

The s8 has a 6.2 inch screen with 2k resolution. The HTC Vive has two 3.5 inch screen each with 1080x1200. The pro is even higher resolution but same 3.5inch screen. Same amount of pixels in a smaller screen means better VR image.

The VR experience difference is night and day and the immersion levels are much better with the latters thanks to better tracking, sensors, optics and performance of rendering machines (PC/PS4 vs Phone).
If you're interested in VR, I'd highly urge you to try a high-end headset; you'll probably fall in love with the experience.

I own a Gear VR 2017 that i use with a Galaxy S8+ which have a 2960x1440 screen, and i observe a HUGE screen-door effect (i can see the pixel's grid of my screen).

This Vive Pro Headseat have a combined resolution of 2,880 x 1,600px, which is more or less equal to my S8+. Does it mean that i'll have the same screen-door effect on the Vive ?

Sorry for any english mistakes, i'm french^^
