What about burn-in?
ItÂ’s still not fully executed, and doesnÂ’t work 100% right.
What if screen schratches or cracks?
I already see company like Apple charging 1000 dollars just for screen replacement because of this.
Cpt. Power, 11 Jan 2018Well maybe you are right sorry i have to admit with you. But i barely believe a scratched se... moreI agree with you on this one. And if screen is cracked, what then? We all know how many people have shattered screen...
Is the fingerprint area brighter than the surrounding area like the rumours said a few months ago?
This is really possible and yes it must be a regular part for 2018 smartphone and will be refined by mid 2018 or early 2019.
Anonymous, 11 Jan 2018Htc buys from JDI. That is why arw gossips about 4K HDR for U11. Sammy does not use on ... moreHTC has used screens from Sharp, JDI and S-LCD corporation (owned by Samsung electronics). The latest U11+ has a SuperLCD6 which was made by S-LCD corp.
Now it's time for them to make the first underscreen camera.
Maybe they can implement the same wizardy to make a portion of the screen with camera underneath off and transparent enough when taking a picture or videos and activate it again like a normal screen when not in use.
viva to you Vivo!
you should be extra more careful about the screen of this phone because if screen got cracked
there is a possibility that this feature might not work
ZloiYuri, 11 Jan 2018Am I the only one who don't using fingerprint scanners, facial recognitions, even lock screen?... moreWhere are located ? Are you Living on a Wonderland
Biometric Security is not about "you Don't Trust your Friend or Family"
It's For Security and Protect of Your Private and Sensitive Things
It's Like YOur Saying that You Go all Nude without Anything
and Say "" It's OK, I Trust you my Friend That Won't Look or Touch my Private and Sensitive Things "" .. So Think .. ahahah
-. -, 11 Jan 2018I guess the scanner accuracy will fall because if the display scratch, mean the light will be ... moreThe question i been asking since yesterday is related with your subject maybe, does this fingerprint scanner work if you put a tempered glass on the screen?? If yes then there is no need to worry about the scratches.
Cpt. Power, 11 Jan 2018Well maybe you are right sorry i have to admit with you. But i barely believe a scratched se... morefingerprint sensors can get scratched pretty hard and work prefectly on jerryrigeverything has scratched around 60 phones by now and the finger print works after being scratched on 90 % of the phones
Would rather prefer an ultrasonic implementation, it was capable of a 3d print due to the nature of technology, and not just a mostly flat fingerprint. Still, it's about time someone made this work.

that's a great milestone indeed. but they have to find a solution for the burn-in issues of oleds, which happens even without a fingerprint scanner lightening all the time.
I think the underscreen fingerprint scanner will be truly amazing because bazeless devices will also be available. Good to have one for less then £500
A hands on video would be great. If it's an always on fingerprint sensor which won't require the user to wake up the device (work without waking up the screen since it's an OLED panel) then it's cool. It requires a few fine tunings to achieve faster unlock speeds, hopefully Vivo being the first to implement this technology will provide the groundwork for fine tunings to the big players. Finally Vivo has some achievement it can brag about. Hehe..
Jon, 11 Jan 2018are you saying you can only unlock it by first pressing a button to switch the screen on first... moreDoesn't look like it. The article says "the fingerprint scanner is always waiting to detect a fingerprint when screen is off" so most likely you'll be able to just put your finger in the spot to turn it on and unlock.
