James Whister, 16 Jan 20183000mah seriously???? My htc one m8 2014 had 2600mah battery. So what? If you are well informed, technology in batteries has 0 improvement in the last years. The difference is that phones are getting bigger, so, more room to put bigger batteries and also chipsets are more power efficient. Look at what Apple can do with such tiny batteries, the iPhones 8, for example, has 1820mAh and has a decent battery life if you look at their capacity. So, to have a bigger battery, phones would have to be thicker or (even) bigger. There's no magic in putting a 4000mAh battery in a small device!

battery size is not what really matters in phones nowadays but how the phone is optimized not to consume battery and the chipset

A bit disappointing since I was hoping they would bump up the battery capacity. Well on the bright side, at least they didn't slash it like the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2, which got a whopping 1000 mAh downgrade.

BiyoBiyo JunJun, 16 Jan 2018is that really necessary put 8k screen on phone ?Ask Samsung. They focus more on the screen size and resolution than battery and endurance. Some time ago Samsung actually played with the idea of 11k mobile screens. But if it becomes reality, they will only put 4000 mah battery in the phone.

secondly. I really wouldn't like to have another exploding batteries debacle. (Note 7 anyone?) so let's look at the dimensions of the S9: they are almost the same as S8. (if not a bit bigger)
How would you fit a 5k mAh battery in such a slender body? (even though it's 8.2-8.4mm thick.) I am more awaiting the Graphene batteries. which will be MUCH more energy efficient. (a slab of 3k mAh battery in Li-ion material is about 7-9k in Graphene if I'm not mistaken)

Samsung's batteries are crap anyway (Prone to swelling and dying fast), so at that price, i probably wouldn't buy a Galaxy even if they had 5000mah batteries (Which should be the norm).
And with the ridiculous remote control-like aspect ratio, i wouldd't buy one even if everything with batteries was pefect.

Another year, another Galaxy S, and the battery stays the same, small or nothing better. I wouldn't get anything under 4000 mAh, these days.
