The product is incompatible with Oreo.
Yeah right !

I think what they are trying to say is the update is incompatible with their greed.

Translation: "Buy our new phones!"

Make sense. Huawei makes money from selling new phones, not updating old ones. Don't like it, don't buy Huawei, or don't buy premium Android phones. Just buy cheap ones.

cyber, 16 Jan 2018custom made SOC sucks as always, this is the biggest hardware limitation on that phoneCustom SoC works wonder for Samung or Apple in most cases so not always but it is surprising that Huwaei with HiSilicon SoC itself abandoning S/W update merely on H/W & S/W limitations! If it was like Qualcomm stopped updating or providing support to any of their SD line, the manufacturer was unable to get you latest major OS, it makes sense but what stops Huwaei?

mir, 16 Jan 2018Just be honest and say you have no plans in updating the phone. They should clarify this because it is now going to affect other devices as well since everyone will have second thoughts over Honor S/W Support. It's difficult to assume the reason for this.

LG superfan, 16 Jan 2018Android can also run latest OS through custom roms and android gives you more features with lo... moreNo point giving attention to someone who lost his brain to brand Apple for reason unknown. Apple's long support cycle sounds good on paper but I don't see anything worthy in a closed restricted ecosystem plus the fact that the asking price for "just works" is now worth a $1000.

no name1, 16 Jan 2018yeah it is bad company lolll... apple try to built grand brand like rolex, ralph lauren, LV so... moreTrolling seems your business and looks like you are good at it. Apple and Android both have their own pros and cons. This article only highlights Huwaei's poor decision to abandon a worthy product of Oreo support. They did push Oreo with treble support apart from Pixel line so, it is rather shocking decision. What is with all those "lol lols" by the way? Share your opinion in a decent manner at least!

This is like shooting yourself in the foot! I always liked the competitive phones launched by Huwaei under Honor brand plus they use their own SoC like Samsung for Exynos line but 1 major update for a flagship grade phone? People looking at Honor View 10, Honor 8 Pro, etc. will now be doubtful over any long term support for major updates. Minor security updates too I never heard. OnePlus scares, Xiaomi own fork of Android, Huwaei with this, I wonder there is any silver lining in Android world for anything as OEM (Samsung, LG, Sony, Google, HTC) have their own no or slow or buggy approach to OS updates. Any company can decide to end support as they wish!

As an ex owner of an Honor 7 ... I advise to stay clear of the Honor brand. You will not get OS/security updates.
