Even this doesnt mean your phone gets latest patch or newer version of Android, MIUI9 is more light and beauty than MIUI8 or lower so, it gives to Xiaomi phones a new face since you get bored some months or years later with the same UI.
It shows XIaomi is still concentrated to their costumers and give a chance to them to keep the device and spread the good words about it and then Xiamoi image and brand will increase and sell even more.
Me myself want a Xiaomi and for sure in some weeks i will got one Mi A1, i love the device and Xiaomi are doing a great job.
- Now i want to see Apple or Sammy fannyboys say they have a better phone than Xiaomi ones. NO YOU DONT HAVE, BECAUSE SAMMY OR AIPLE IS WORSE THAN XIAOMI FROM FAR FAR AWAY.
XIAOMI means good prices, good performance and good trust...go home sammy and apple idiots, you are brainless people.

Xiaomi redmi note 2 did not get any Android updates it still on Android 5.0.1 it lunched with . and security from 2016 with update to miui 8.5 ... Bad company

But just a question: do you know if those xiaomis launched with Oreo to support treble, if they will get new android version alongside MIUI updates for that long? Because it is no effort to update the Android version of Treble phones.

Redmi 4 prime update was scheduled for late December and still nothing! Many phones are getting Oreo and we are waiting for Nougat !!!

Like for example my lenovo Vibeshot.
It started at lolipop 5.0 then i was able to download Lolipop 5.1 later next year 6.0 marshmallow and then 6.1 marshmallow.

Xiaomi gets 1-2 updates usualy. All depends on type of phone.
MY old Vibeshot from lenovo got 3 updates.
From Lolipop 5.0 to 5.1 then marshmallow 6.0 and Marshmallow 6.1.
Now i ahve Moto X4 where i can download oreo but i am afraid of oreo cuz lots of problems with it.

Xiaomi seems to have got some really nice feature in miui 9 to spy on users hence it's updating all phones
