Also I hope you know the IP68 rating is rather nondescript. It's just anything beyond IP67, to be defined by the manufacturer. Most seem to settle for IP67, instead of trying to trick consumers that "IT'S ONE NUMBER BETTER!".
Alien , 23 Jan 2018You do realize that if it's true and radio waves cause cancer and other tumors, NOBODY will ba... moreAh yes, independent scientific institutions are all part of a massive conspiracy to cover up radio wave effects on organic life. Post scientific sources or sit in a corner with a tin-foil hat. You can't have a serious conversation while wearing that tin-foil and have zero sources for outrageous claims.
Thesis86, 23 Jan 2018So? Many manufacturers have figured out how to have a 3.5mm jack and give everyone water/dust ... moreUSB-C isn't a locked ecosystem. It's an open standard.
And the issue isn't whether it's possible, if it's necessary to have two ports on a phone when one port can do all things. It's a waste of space for most phones. There will still be phones produced with 3.5 mm ports, so if the 3.5 mm port is important to you, buy a phone with that. For everyone else there are phones without it that use the limited space more efficiently.
Oh, and you don't need dongles unless you want to use 3.5 mm headphones. You can just get USB-C headphones.
I am ok if they put double usb c ports.

Not to mention the medical ones.
The major companies pay people with degrees (that you would believe) to keep their mouths shut and discredit everything about it.
Yeah, this is the realm of conspiracy theories because nobody has the guts to say it. We've all seen movies based on real facts where stuff like this is covered and hidden from the world. But, years later they will eventually pop. Sadly, when it's too late.
All the car manufacturers are lying about the emissions, what makes you think other companies don't. It's a dirty word we're living in..
FinnishInquisition, 22 Jan 2018Laptops and tablets don't have the same space constraints as smartphones. So? Many manufacturers have figured out how to have a 3.5mm jack and give everyone water/dust resistance. There's really no excuse not to have it on a modern device, except to lock people into ecosystems, which benefits the company, not the consumer. I'm not loyal to any company. I go for what I want. Since I still value a headphone jack, I'm more than likely going to get a phone with a headphone jack. The dongle is trash. All USB-C is not created equal. BT is great for the gym, bad for everything else.

It's like someone is dictating them to make their phones certain way and they have no choice but to obey. Lack of 3.5mm jack is hurting anyone, more or less, except for Apple. And 18:9 aspect ratio is hated by at least 50% of users, so why not more diversity and why is nobody trying to win all the people who hate the current trends? It's not like manufacturers like HTC or Sony will become Apple, so since they are failing anyway, why not at least try to be firrent than the others and win customers in the process?
That's pure insanity. Unless there's indeed more than it meets the eye.

You can fit a car into a smartphone if you design it for that. But people want thinner devices, nicer designs, waterproofing and better battery lives. To achieve that you need to cut out the useless components. The 3.5 mm port functionality is already filled by USB-C/Lightning, so it has to go.
