There you would find that by *far* Facebook's messenger is one of the worse offender in battery leaks (hence why they released messenger lite), same goes with Facebook and instagram. Anything that company does.
Yeah, it's realistic to say that using them are heavy to the *phone*. Not knowing them makes you seem to be in the wrong place.

Not everyone needs or wants heavy customisation.. somebody just wants simplicity and ease of use without taking too much time in the settings (i did that when I had an android phone). btw, you can buy an iPhone with 2 year warranty in Europe, so its not a big deal. Also, Apple's Support is way better than Samsung's.

And who on Earth gives their 10 y.o 1000 USD phone? Besides gsma got a new display test method in 2016, didn't they. So all video playback time would be consistent. Besides I really don't understand how
1 device with higher resolution screen and smaller battery has better battery life than one with lower resolution screen and bigger battery if they run the same os with same optimisations by the same company.
2 don't start on how fps consumes more battery than an always on camera on front, both of us know (at least I do) that's impossible..
S8 User, 27 Jan 2018Interesting. Also, I didn't know why, but iPhone users experience shutdowns on their devices i... moreMaybe they degrade faster.
Many depends on user its self.
For example i sold S6 3 months ago and 2 days ago i had a complain that the battery is dying fast on a brand new phone. On standstill it drains like 10% every hour on a 3 months old phone. I asked a customer what he do how he charge his phone and what kind of charger he using,
He told me he is in work from 8am till 8pm 5 days a week. And from about 10pm he puts his phone on charger and go sleep. And when he wakes up at 6am he takes the phone from a charger. Battery is simmilar to brad in bakery. When its too hot and charged the excessive amount of energy creates heat which will pop your battery like balloon over time.
If hes phone were charged in like 1,5 hour and rest of the night were battery overcharged he could expect anything else.
In my country but probbaly anywhere else guarantee on the phone is 2 years but every battery hae only a 6 months warranty mostly due to this.
In present era phone cant stop charging when plugged even the battery is full because lots of apps still running on background and continuosly draining your battery.
Any phone from any brand works like this.
In case of apple batteries are so thick they cant even looks like ballon instead of that they quickly loose capacity. And any battery which looks like well baked bread will die almost instantly after charging. Maybe the phone let you call 2-3 numbers or send up to 5 messages and battery will die to zero capacity.

Yet, people who use Samsung for example don't experience sam issues. I don't understand, do iPhone batteries degrade faster or what's the point?
Btw thank you for explaining that stuff to me :)
S8 User, 26 Jan 2018So, thickness of battery plays a role too?Man thick battery have usualy low capacity and dies soon.
Only good for apple is that their CPU have a very low consumption.
But try to image how long could iphone X last with battery from Lenovo P2 or Oukitel K10.
Yes it will be 3-4 times more bulky but it could last maybe a 2 weeks with same battery as oukitel K10 have.

I mean try Iphone for a heavy gaming and charge it often for a week or try even to play a game connected to a charger. Your battery rips off in like a week or 2.
And stackable batteries like in iphone X isnt a solution. Having thin phone should be fine but not for the battery.
I understand that the bulky one isnt an option always but for example iphone battery is half thinner than samsung one.
AnonD-731363, 25 Jan 2018Man exactly. Like present topic on GSM Arena. They gonan unveil 3 new phones which one of them... moreApple budget phone for 800 dollars? I know that iPhone SE was still expensive even for a budget phone and wasn't that far from the price of Samsung flagship... if iPhone SE 2 will be anywhere near 800 dollars it'll be a rip-off. The S9 probably won't cost 800 dollars, and I got my S8 for 500 euro I think. The S8's price dropped a lot, and will definitley be much better buy than Apple "midranger". But we could be wrong... also to ask, what do you think why are iPhones known for being poor at battery department?
Anonymous, 25 Jan 2018Stand-by is similar across iphones though, so that part is irrelevant.. gsmarena readings are ... moreBTW GSMArena battery tests don't correlate very well with real world usage. They were deviced back in the early days of smartphones where more than 3 hours of screen on time was unheard of, back when talking to phones was still a thing.
Fast forward the better part of a decade and people don't use their phones like that anymore. They hardly use voice, they use the screen far more and more intensely. So most of GSMArena tests are out.
Users are more active meaning that the SoC is more heavily used, at the same time the screen is on 5 hours at minimum. It makes sense too, it's the defacto personal computer for most people. Since GSMarena is using 2010's standards, all we get is (practically) standby times at this point. Those tests make ultra light use of the phone and even with the sliders at max, they still indicate a relatively light use (little to no SoC use).
The test I uploaded actually stress tests most components for many hours straight. That is far closer to real time use. Be it gaming, instagram or facebook browsing, even messaging in the era of gifs and a million emojis. Those are memory/CPU intensive things going on most of the time all the while the screen is on for most of the time. In *those* tests iPhone X is king, to the rest not so ... but it doesn't matter because most people don't make light use of their phones anymore. Even 10 year olds are "hard" users at this point in history.
GSMarena has to seriously overhaul their battery test I'm afraid to say.
Anonymous, 25 Jan 2018Stand-by is similar across iphones though, so that part is irrelevant.. gsmarena readings are ... moreStandby times across multiple phones of the same company/generation have mostly to do with total battery capacity. So a 3000 phone has a better standby times than a 2700 phones, simple as that.

But we cant speak about budget price if it have to be 800 eur,
For example average monthly salary in Bangladesh is 17 eur, another example kenya have 67 eur as monthly salary. On the whole world are a lot more countries where even a real budget phone is just too expensive.
But these people never learns from their mistakes only when it becomes too late.

I would personally like Apple to stay, as I think there has to be someone to compete with Android or Android will get rotten too if it's only OS and people are without any alternative. But Apple is really heading the wrong way. And I don't like Apple as it is now. It's not too late for them to make a change, put a fair price on their next phone, add fast charging and everything else right in the box... but I think we both know they most likley won't do it.

And most of the reviewerson internet and my friends experience with ix seems to agree with that. I'd take their reviews over a single video review any day of the week. Besides I checked apple site too. I suppose you're saying their figures are a lie right?

Irrelevant, it's the logic board that is deeming how much power is to be used to each component. Apple has *total* control of the hardware even when it comes from 3rd parties.
"Means the culprit is screen."
That and optimization. Apple always optimize her high end models better than lower ends. iPhone X is better optimized.
" I showed you multiple proofs"
You showed none. All of them are measuring a singular thing (cnet, video viewing, gsmarena standby mostly). I on the other hand showed to you a true stress test that tests *everything* and iphone x doesn't just win, it *crashes* the iphone plus. So sad.
AnonD-711468, 24 Jan 2018GSMarena tests standby times mostly, so I'm not using its battery results.
I wrote *iPhone'... moreIt ain't first time. Might be for them but They are buying it off the company who has been making it since eternity. So that's completely invalid point.
Besides isn't endurance counted as screen on time + standby. So it must be bad at one of those. If it's screen then how is that going to be better than the 5.5 inch iphone? iOS has pretty great standby anyways, so there's no point in comparison of iPhone to iphone in that regard. Means the culprit is screen. And it consumes more power with higher resolution to boot, how is that a better battery life than the iphone 7 plus or for that matter any big iphone in first place? I showed you multiple proofs and have many more.. need them?
