The flagship can have slim side bezels like the XA2 Ultra with that FPS tech on the screen. That means no FPS on the back! Thank heavens

So the future is effecient microled displays with inbuilt fingerprint scanners then.
If this is in the next Sony (or sharp) high end phones, which a March release is the right timeline that's a nice selling point.

They did collaborate with ARM long ago but even then the ARM architecture already existed, so your point is invalid. In this case, JDI is a joint collaboration of 3 companies started from scratch, so I'm sure Sony IS actually involved.
And the point is that people tend to glorify everything regarding Apple and Samsung with ignorance towards the rest.
