You buy saying aluminium build is average than your dismissing pretty much 50% of all smartphones in the worls by saying its a cheap build.
And you by saying you can get a better phone for much (MUCH) cheaper just proves my point on how pathetic and ignorant you are.

Absolutely average chinaphone is set as something outstanding! Build is average, like other chinaphones. Camera is still bad. Specs are good but are average now. For this price you can buy much better phones (and never cheated or stole your data) or buy the same for much (MUCH!!!) lower price. But people still believe in crappy PR.

As probably one of the only people here posting who actually owns the phone I can say it is one of the nicest phones I've ever had. In the last year I've owned the S8+, Pixel 2 XL (Still own this), Essential phone, LG V30, Oneplus 5, and iPhone 7. I often switch between the Pixel 2 XL and Essential but more and more I choose the essential because overall it's an excellent package. It's really obvious the trolls on here read about the issues when this first came out and haven't bothered to see what's been fixed. Is it the perfect phone, no, but it's a really nice overall package and unlike Samsung seems to be getting regular software updates. When I sold the S8+ it was still on 7.0 over a year after it came out!

It may got better now but thats after top of the line SoC, faster RAM and storage at nearly 1000$. Stock android always sees what the SoC at the time was capable. Besides, saying it's still shit after years are pretty dumb, since it'shas changed much over the course of the year

Stock Android is always years behind Samsung's UI and is always playing catchup. I gave up that feature poor, restrictive, boring, limiting, buggy POS that is stock Android years ago for Samsung galaxy note and I've never looked back.

The oneplus 5T is simply a better phone and still reigns as king of android taking in account speed, performance, tweaks, build quality and good enough camera, way better than essential and nokia btw.
That's the bargain of the year and many reviewers still chose the oneplus 5T as their favourite smartphone of the year.

Me either, it's amazing they haven't figured it out before they came up with this POS.
Without marketing/PR (Brainwashing), it can only impress power users. Instead, they neglected everything power users would appreciate. Even the design is ridiculous and only proper brainwashing could convince people otherwise (And mostly non-power users).
Their strategy is extremely stupid.

Don't... moreWell it's just that everyone that used both says, that the op5t camera is a lot closer to the Galaxy s8 than the essential prone that has indeed camera problems. Also performance wise it's not on par with other flagships, especially not with the 5t that leads basically every single speed comparison available. Display is no amoled and you cannot repair it in case of a damage because there are no spare parts available anywhere.
I kinda like the essential phone but I can see why there is no place in the market atm for this phone
