Sony "spartans" prefer their old IPS, please no OLED for sony!
Now seriously:
Personally, I don't care about the brand. If they make a phone that has 18:9 screen resolution, about equal overall dimensions comparing to competitors, oled panel, equally good (to competitors) night performance of camera (they need to add OIS) and a good design, I'll consider buying one.
Sony gonna Rock cell market with there Next generation Flagship beaSt cell phones in 2018!
[deleted post]better sell the mobile division to china company (like sharp), sony will get much more money if they do this. LOL
Oathbreaker, 29 Jan 2018LG Display is the king of OLED TVs. It's LG Mobile that uses terrible displays. New design ... moreLg OLED TVs got burn in you need to check it again.
AnonD-468012, 29 Jan 2018Why big no?LG OLED is crap you need to check there OLED lg TVs there’s screen got burn in very easily it’s even noticeable.
Oled or lcd is not a selling point for a phone, never was.
Marketing is selling phones.
But using oled....uhhhh, hope Sony incorporates some of its tech know how to avoid all the shortcommings it brings, so it can utilise that few things it offers like flexibility.
Anyways, I personaly aint buying an oled Sony phone, within at least two years of release....
Will follow articles on its behaviour in that timeframe.
Hope it wont end up like other amoled/poled phones, filling headlines with negative reports.
As long as Sony offers JDI lcd flagships too, alongside this, I am OK with this testing ground by Sony.
Why is everyone so worked up about the oled panel? It doesn't matter who supply who; all it matters is what is under the hood or technology. For example, Samsung ONLY supplied the panel to Apple, but Apple made use of its superior R&D and implement that technology to the panel.
xXENDER FREAKXx, 29 Jan 2018If they want OLED might as well go for JDI or something better Yes, but the problem is fundings.
JDI is ramping up for there own OLED tech and Sony won't need low grade suppliers in the near future! Hehehe

Unbiased Sony Addict, 29 Jan 2018OLED is just temporary. Sony will switch to microLED, specifically their CLEDIS™ technology, ... moreAre you an expert brand analyst like Ming-Chi Kuo and can predict what Sony does next? I'm not even sure if Sony Mobile will be around when microLEDs become ready and cheap enough for implementation on handphone screens. Enjoy the OLED Sony phones while you can.

zamroni1, 30 Jan 2018This 2012 article mention that Sony's CEO in early 2000s said that the Koreans were steel mill... moreYou have reading comprehension problems.
The CEO was referencing how the difference in profit margins come from the fact that Samsung and SONY aren't in the same industries. He wasn't talking about which industry is "more difficult", nor was he referencing whose technology was superior.
The manufacturers are the ones developing the tech. SONY is just buying them in bulk and assembling them.
zamroni1, 30 Jan 2018This 2012 article mention that Sony's CEO in early 2000s said that the Koreans were steel mill... moreAnd, so what? What's the point of showing a 2012 article in 2018? So the CEO of a company said that their company is better than some other company. What does this implies really????
This 2012 article mention that Sony's CEO in early 2000s said that the Koreans were steel mills while Sony is car maker (which meant Sony is much more high tech)

I would stop buying Xperia flagship if this is true. Why can't they source panels from Sharp and Japan Display (JDI) instead?
