Sony "spartans" prefer their old IPS, please no OLED for sony!

Now seriously:
Personally, I don't care about the brand. If they make a phone that has 18:9 screen resolution, about equal overall dimensions comparing to competitors, oled panel, equally good (to competitors) night performance of camera (they need to add OIS) and a good design, I'll consider buying one.

Oled or lcd is not a selling point for a phone, never was.
            Marketing is selling phones.

But using oled....uhhhh, hope Sony incorporates some of its tech know how to avoid all the shortcommings it brings, so it can utilise that few things it offers like flexibility.
Anyways, I personaly aint buying an oled Sony phone, within at least two years of release....
Will follow articles on its behaviour in that timeframe.
Hope it wont end up like other amoled/poled phones, filling headlines with negative reports.

As long as Sony offers JDI lcd flagships too, alongside this, I am OK with this testing ground by Sony.

Why is everyone so worked up about the oled panel? It doesn't matter who supply who; all it matters is what is under the hood or technology. For example, Samsung ONLY supplied the panel to Apple, but Apple made use of its superior R&D and implement that technology to the panel.

The CEO was referencing how the difference in profit margins come from the fact that Samsung and SONY aren't in the same industries. He wasn't talking about which industry is "more difficult", nor was he referencing whose technology was superior.

The manufacturers are the ones developing the tech. SONY is just buying them in bulk and assembling them.
