Google dumped HTC's Pixel 2 XL design even thought it is a lot better than LG's Pixel 2 XL just so HTC's stock would go down and makes it easier for Google to buy out the team.

Just wondering myself, wasn't easier to copycat the Blackberry and Nokia idea? Just ask Foxconn to build what you need.
However, I can't imagine how 2000 engineers can work together to develop a cellphone. Will be an engineer responsible with the on/off button, other for the +/- one, etc...
HMD "researched and designed" their self (yah, right) 12 or 13 cellphones into their first year of existence.

Doesn't Google know that if you try to revive a dead company it will turn into a zombie? :))

Interesting what will HTC sell next, cause they're certainly in losses and need a huge cash flow to continue existence.

HTC developed under a google company should be interesting.
It will be much better than most of the other competitors like Sony, Samsung, Apple etc. If they try their best of course.

AnonD-577940, 30 Jan 2018So they're basically going to raid them for their patent portfolio and dump them like Motorola?Man motorola is great company despite its under lenovo now.
Look how ended Nokia under Microsoft. Was like failuer.
But Motorola was beginning of everything and yet still today is one of the brands everybody wants to have,

My U11 unable to install a prompted firmware update to Oreo 8 after downloading it. To me this deal with Google (HTC losing 2000 engineers) is starting to take its toll on HTC's support capability. That U11 will be my last HTC device.

This sound great, the single thing that stops Pixels from being the ultimate phones is the not top notch hardware and this can change this year.
