[deleted post]so following the same logic, you gonna tell me all those phones in the past years with 16:9 aspect ratio screens are copycats of the first one ever released? lol
Hmm... Too long for the compact phone, but this is just rumor, so hopefully the real phone is more compact than this.
We have a lot good big phones. Not so many compact. The XZ1 compact is a little bit big for a compact phone, but keeping the same size screen and cutting some bezels, would be ideal!
Let see what is coming.
i'm disappointed...... 135.43mm+ is not compact! that's just less than 1cm shorter than huawei p10 or xiaomi mi 6.... please stop calling this "compact"!
a real compact android phone is the sony ericsson xperia mini with a height of 88mm only
KamAbdi, 31 Jan 2018Your right and I completely 100% agree with you with every word you said.
Like media are hyp... moreThe iPhone X doesn't even make the "5 highest screen-to-body ratio" phones list.
Essential PH-1, Galaxy S8+, Galaxy S8, Galaxy Note8, Mi Mix, & Umidigi Crystal all have less bezel space than the iPhone X.
And there are dozens of phones, including the Pixel 2 XL, OnePlus 5T, Mate 10, Mate 10 Pro, Mi Mix 2, V30, etc. that are within 3% of the screen-to-body ratio of the iPhone X (82.9%).
AnonD-39937, 31 Jan 2018finally Sony is shaving some bezels :)Still plenty of bezels to be cut to be reasonable for the screen sizes, though. A true compact with actually 2018-like bezels would be a nice product, even though I personally don't care about small phones. Some others very likely would.
Here is a visual comparison between XZ1 Compact and upcoming device
In the back of my mind I have been wondering whether or not Sony would create a compact handset with a top shelf SoC featuring limited to zero bezels. I don't care if they keep the resolution at just HD/720 P. Headphone jack wise, I think they should continue to add, and, the audio output should be loud and clear. Make phones great again manufacturers!
AnonD-725563, 31 Jan 2018I don't know why journalists and people relate 18:9 screens with the "bezzel-lessnes" and are ... moreYour right and I completely 100% agree with you with every word you said.
Like media are hyping for 18:9 as bezel less, though all of the phones have bezels including iPhone X
AnonD-481725, 31 Jan 2018It seems for me more interesting than the xz pro, but the 18:9 ratio perhaps not. You're right....I also don't think it's 18:9...Sony Pictures uses 16:9 so I don't see Sony Mobile using 18:9 anytime soon....clickbait article no doubt
It could be considered as good news, but if you make some simple calculations, the display size is 5,66 cm x 11,32 cm. And if the given dimensions are 13.54 x 6,46 it is obvious that the phone will have more than 1 cm top and bottom bezzels and almost 5 mm side bezels.
So the device will be tipical Sony with enlarged display
Compact is indeed one devices that makes sense to have 2:1 ratio but they are stretching it here. Although software keyboard is going to be even more crapped this time. Everything under 130 of height is compact, once you go over it's not that compact anymore.
I wish they stayed with 129 height but it's beyond obvious what they did here. 2:1 display gave them the comfort to make the casing bigger instead of trimming the casing down.
