Anonymous, 03 Feb 2018Samsung is not that aggressive in marketing anymore. Oppo is the most aggressive, in our count... moreAnd cause of that marketing they sold so many phones.Marketing is most important thing if u want to sell something.
opt, 04 Feb 2018where is sony?Standing somewhere in the 21-25 million devices shipped, similar to HTC with 20 (or less) millions.just Nokia has 8.4 M+ shipments alone.
Apple is 2nd in shipments but has total usage of 1/5 of their shipped phones.Samsung phones are used 2/5 of their shipped phones or a bit less and Xiaomi/Huawei and Oppo/Oneplus have 5/5 usage.Pretty much all phone brands get their phones used and overused and bought right away while Apple is just standing there in their fake shiney glass stores that post images of common people using them and their lame ads that are not bought.
where is sony?

The under 1's for example won't have phones. Also there are millions of poor people who are struggling for survival throughout the planet who won't have or need a phone. This is just a very small example.
S8 User, 02 Feb 2018Like expected, Samsung dominates the market and it won't change soon. I have a feeling that... moreYeah, it's going to be another Galaxy Tab device ;)

AnonD-733422, 02 Feb 2018Xiaomi will soon jump Oppo.Their phones are for younger customers, and they don't give updates.... moreIn Q4 2017 xiaomi is already ahead of oppo.
GVera, 02 Feb 2018Oppo, Vivo and OnePlus are just three brands of the same company: BBK Electronics Corporation.... moreYes, thats why i breakdown their strategy, and i said, their biggest team mate..
But Apple still got biggest profit from smartphone market, even their market share shrinking..
Sean Paul, 02 Feb 2018Who really cares about the number of shipped devices? The number of devices actually got sold ... moreTheir not gonna ship that many phones if they are not selling. Unless they want to go bankrupt or loose profits.
Sean Paul, 02 Feb 2018Who really cares about the number of shipped devices? The number of devices actually got sold ... moreSamsung is not that aggressive in marketing anymore. Oppo is the most aggressive, in our country, their stickers and tarps are all over the place in malls, elevators and escalators. They have sales persons on the front and inside of every phone store plus their phones are more favored in selling. This annoys the heck out of me. Vivo comes second. Samsung doesn't have to do that anymore because many people buy them anyway just like Apple.
Sean Paul, 02 Feb 2018Who really cares about the number of shipped devices? The number of devices actually got sold ... moreHaters gonna literally find ANY reason to hate...
...then bang the dead 'lag' drum as back up!
Good luck with that
AnonD-1825, 02 Feb 2018Samsung ASP is very low compared to Apple, those low end phones which most Samsung sales are d... moreAnd still higher than everyone else (except Apple obviously)...
The chinese barely have any profit, makes you wonder how the hell they can survive.
Dont worry next year wont be that cool.
Follow the apple pricing and Samsung will be at a tail in sales along with apple.
Enough is enough.
People are willing pay as much as they can afford to not starve on streets.
Even a hard bargain fans have its limites.
Who really cares about the number of shipped devices? The number of devices actually got sold might be a better indicator of the top smartphone OEMs.
The only reason Samsung is on the top is because of the fact it bombards the market with zillion phones and aggressive marketing, and not necessarily because of quality products. Such a shame, the Galaxy flagships still feel sluggish after extended use couple of months down the line.
Samsung surely changed in the last few years. Good job
iPhone X really helped Samsung. There were many iPhone users, never tried new generation android phones (2016+) and they always compared their old Android to the new iPhones they were using. It is true that until 2016 the Android phones had lot of bugs, but in the end of 2017 Apple devices had many bugs than Android. Failing iPhone X (I know many people who returned the iPhone X during the trial period - gestures in Android was called as gimmicks by iPhone users once, iPhone X make them to live with it) gave an opportunity for iPhone users to try Galaxy s8 and many were amazed how improved the phone is (like the group notification, notification lights, edge display, etc) and this turned many people owning Galaxy S8/S8+ in 2017. It is very difficult to believe the market statistics reported by Apple is accurate, provided many of the iPhone X buyers returned their phone and still the phones appear in the report showing number of devices sold?
This year could be brutal for Apple, if they don't come up with a real innovation rather than saying Face ID is faster than Touch ID.
Like expected, Samsung dominates the market and it won't change soon.
I have a feeling that they are preparing something big for us after the S9.
Ascorth, 02 Feb 2018Oppo doing good because their MASSIVE marketing in big(people) country : like indonesia, china... moreOppo, Vivo and OnePlus are just three brands of the same company: BBK Electronics Corporation.
If you add the 2017 sales of their brands, BBK is in fact the second biggest phone maker, topping Apple.
AnonD-709656, 02 Feb 2018I wonder how is Oppo doing good. Their phones aren't worth it, Vivo and OnePlus (their sibling... moreOppo doing good because their MASSIVE marketing in big(people) country : like indonesia, china and india.
And their smart strategy to be distinct with selfie features.. Vivo is their biggest rival but also their biggest team mate,..
One plus only create flagship spec for Vivo and Oppo, (remember Oppo transisition when they make Find 7 and OnePlus One ).
I had find 7 (bought twice, because i loved it)..
I personally admit their briliant strategy,. But i never buy another Oppo or Oneplus.. because i just want the best price to performance ratio..
Thats is where Xiaomi fill the gap..
Can you see it ?
Huawei for premium market (mate 10/leica branding)
Oppo Vivo for non techy people or you can call it women (selfie, big screen etc)
Xiaomi for budget friendly people (better low end, lowest price for flagship spec)
Are they work together ? Or just coincidence ?
A simple analysis for you to understand what they do
