Android -Open Source OS. Iphone OS-Propriety OS. Eash Mobile OS is directly tied to the output of the hardware manufacturers. The success and reach of an OS is decided by the Owner of that OS eg Android. But, IOS is already drowning and may die sooner than expected after the real emergence of WP and Nokia Tweaking.

While MS runs Nokia, they will never launch an Android phone.

AnonD-616, 29 Jul 2011yes nokia should more focus on GPU :-) . but my friend nokia never use chipset in any symbian ... moreI'm not sure really. Let's just hope the next CPU/GPU/RAM combo for the next generation Symbian devices to be powerful enough to win back customers. And hopefully reviews won't be harshfully bias against Nokia when Belle arrives. While dual-core aren't effectively used right now, Nokia better quickly implement dual-core support for Belle because dual-core is the future, just not now.

It's biggest open-source chance was Meego, so the N9 was introduced. Android is saturated enough, they don't need another vendor.

Consumers wanted a fluid UI, and a powerful GPU is needed for that. Hopefully Belle wil be even more optimized and also better battery life.

dear sun down...regarding ur comment about symbian...im not a symbian hater or lover...but here's a fact about things that is existing in this world...it all will be dead at some point...dinosaur used to populate earth over millions and millions years ago...and so too technology...like symbian. symbian is on the brink of dying...its the generation of Android and IOS...just accept the fact that Nokia and symbian have had its glory days and they take it for granted and now its coming back and bite them back...they shud see it coming though...

Great, another Android vs iOS war filling the comments. Is there actually anyone who would actually discuss the topic without provocation? Moving on, yeah. The iPhone 5 would boost sales, but I doubt it will bring as much profit as iPhone 4 did. The ''wow'' effect of Apple won't last forever.

This article really isn't about Android... its about APPLE!!! :-) 28% is awesome for only making 2 devices. Samsung only wishes they were that successful with ONE device.

valek, 29 Jul 2011any iphone boy like to comment on the fact? move over & its time for android.... you will ... moreiPhone users and Apple enthusiasts fully realize that as a result of the multitudes of cheap android devices Android has captured a staggering market share in a short time. But that share is not filled with a bunch of high end phones. Most of them are the cheaper less capable phones that are no greater than the iPhone 3GS. Not one single Android manufacturer sells as many handsets as Apple does. Apple's share of 28% is HUGE when you consider they only make.... TWO PHONES! And that number is sure to climb if the iPhone 5 rumors are all true. And its pretty lame that all of the Android fans are talking as if Android is taking iOS market share. iOS is still GAINING share. Its everyone else that is losing.
