I do not care what other people say. Even if my phone has 1000TB storage, I still want my phone to have SD card slot.
Many people said SD cards are unreliable. But, most of my micro SD cards still survive even after many years of usage.
If my phone was spoilt, everything inside the internal storage will be gone. But, I still can eject the micro SD card, put it inside a computer's card reader, and access the files.
I will only use internal storage for apps and micro SD card for personal files like photos, videos, etc. I had set my camera app to store captured photos and videos in micro SD card. I would like to keep this practice.
Dear all users who don't use SD card, while you have rights to decide not to use SD cards, you have no rights to decide for other people. Everyone has different needs. Please respect other people's choice.
I am glad that iphone chooses not have SDCARD. So SDCARD lovers will not have to consider Iphone at all. Frankly, SDCARD is good for storing musics, videos and movies. Installation of OS and Apps will be in the Internal storage. Apple did not get that, so that is their fault.
Anonymous, 04 Feb 201864GB base storage is a sweet spot for today. I still hope that 128GB will be replacing it by 2... moreHigh framerate videos are not very popular, especially since the standard for professional multimedia productions is +- 24, not 60. And 720@60 and 1080@60 were available since a long time ago, yet people don't use it. I think the future storage needs will be for hyper slow-o content and ultra high resolution content (8K, despite being useless on the average 5.x'' phone like 4K)
Zenodroid, 04 Feb 2018Still not important. If you are smart, you use cover/case protection. That you need to remove ... moreYou just put it in and remove once in a while and I had LG G Pro and Note3 had SD Card in both and they never slowed down cause I only use it for media not for apps because using for apps slows down phone and yes sd card have high failure rate
Zenodroid, 04 Feb 2018Still not important. If you are smart, you use cover/case protection. That you need to remove ... moreI'd love to see how you whine when your internal mega fast storage phone drops on the ground and cracks the screen making it impossible for you to retrieve your precious library of photos, music and videos of which if you had it all on your microsd card, you could just pop it out and voila you got it all in your hands.
Don't get me started on data recovery costs or true privacy/hack free cloud storage either...
Anonymous, 04 Feb 2018Samsung will get ride if so card soon especially in flagship.Nah they won't, they already did with with s6 and people hated that.
I use a Toshiba class 10 U3 128gb card in my s8+(64gb), my phone is my media player aswell, so need that extra storage. Also do not cheap out on an micro sd card, if you're going to get one get a decent one.
Anonymous, 04 Feb 2018Samsung will get ride if so card soon especially in flagship.I highly doubt it. At least not soon. They lost customers with the S6, that's why they brought it back in the S7.
And if they do it again they'll loose some more.
People say SD is outdated tech, yet every year a new/better one is released.
To those people i say try a REAL SD, not a cheap knock-off. CLASS 10, EXTREME, ULTRA and SEE the difference.
I keep everything on my SD and the intrnal memory only stores apps.
Anonymous, 04 Feb 2018Removal of front cameras should be a thing instead of SD slot and the headphone jack They should actually do as before, with the camera. 1 camera, that you could turn front or back. And just make the screens normal again.
LG superfan, 04 Feb 2018And sd card can do the same without wifi direct etcStill not important. If you are smart, you use cover/case protection. That you need to remove first. Then you need the sim opener, that nobody carries with them. And then finally you have the SD card out. Now you need to put it in an adapter or plug in the card reader to your computer. And again, the SD card have a very big failure scale than the internal storage. But ok, if you buy a fast phone to slow it down with a SD card, and think you are so much better secured. Then go ahead and smoke more of what ever you are on. Your choice. But it still doesn't change the fact that sd cards are wasted resources on the phone evolution.
Removal of front cameras should be a thing instead of SD slot and the headphone jack

I thinks memory card is very important and they should keep it.. Right now I'm using HTC U11 6gb/128gb variant and add another 128gb memory card (Sandisk Extreme Pro). For me, basic 32gb or 64gb is not enough, since camera, video and music become more fantastic to use on smartphone., we need lot of storage to keep those things., especially for photos, 4K video recording, video clips or songs.
SD card should stops since Samsung going to introduce 512GB built in storage. Dont understand some guys use there phones as a PC and store 500 movie and 2000 songs! It’s a phone end of the not a MacBook or PC plus sd card kills performance lol.
we need SD slot . 4K is there and 4K@60fps will definately require more storage. As OS develops the backups will also increase in size . And i download youtube videos from the app to view them later on in HD. That also requires storage. And sometimes one needs to copy some videos from friends pc which were shot on DSLR and all you got is a data cable and phone and buying a pendrive isnt an option. And the friend wont give his ext hdd or memory cards due to work.
If there are dedicated sd card slot instead of hybrid slot, sd card will be more popular. I also need 2nd sim and sd card but have to choose only 1.
SD cards should stay because no amount of storage is ever enough. I have 2 Terabytes of H.D.D on my PC and 128 Gbs S.S.D and a 1 Terabytes portable H.D.D and I still need more and gonna buy a two Terabytes internal H.D.D. In countries like Iran where Internet access is slow and there aren't any unlimited data plans, cloud is useless. Sadly I own the S6, the first Samsung flagship not to have SD card slot and it was because in that year all other phones overheated with S810 SoC. The only silver lining is OTG support which allows me to use my 1 Terabytes portable drive anywhere.
