If you wish to know what the mkey apk was for then read this:
https://www.express.c... moreThat link you sent wasn't necessary. The actual story is as below:
Oneplus released 5.0.2 and they didn't mention anything about the Mkey app in the changelog first. When you open the app, it starts asking for many sensitive permissions to be in the messaging(has no security certificate, zero privacy policy, it is not a google playstore app either). So many users started shouting about it due to its very doubtful behaviour in oneplus forum. Oneplus completely stayed silent about it even when several times users asked them about the app. Then after 2 days they updated the changelog and said that its a "font resource and required to give with the Oxygen OS" with ZERO explanations. And suddenly again after 2 days they removed the app from the OS and released version 5.0.3.
Do not purchase oneplus phones just because they are cheap. There is so much more to its story.
[deleted post]If you are so smart, please comment on PII / Non Personal Information being compromised. Please share a credible independant report on the same.
Propper, 05 Feb 2018WOW cool, new spywares, i can't wait to see what are new Spywares and malicious in OxygenOS 5.... moreKeep repeating lies, in the hope of they becoming truths someday
Propper, 05 Feb 2018Here are some facts: 1-over 40,000 stolen Credit Cards directly from their official website... moreOh and stolen credit cards are not a phone issue. I, for instance, bought it from Amazon
Propper, 05 Feb 2018Here are some facts:
1-over 40,000 stolen Credit Cards directly from their official website... moreAll of your security concerns are pointless or debunked.
Show me a credible report where users' personal (as in NPI and / or PII) data was captured. The clipboard issue has been debunked on GSMArena itself (as an update)
The OS is very snappy and stable. My original issue was that they take 2 or 3 tries to get a release stabilized and that it should happen at first try.
AnonD-235919, 05 Feb 2018Anyone knows why OnePlus stopped the rollout of 5.0.2 and released 5.0.3?

My OnePlus 5 received 2 updates 5.0.1 and 5.0.2, but after 100% dowload, the installation failed. So, I am still using Android 7. This update is useless for me.
[deleted post]If you had an iphone 7, it's a downgrade. If you had an previous iphone prior to iphone 6, i would have chosen the oneplus 5T.
If you had an iphone 7 i would have chosen the Google Pixel 2XL.
I'm with you, i dno't like samsung devices because it still has massive bloatware and it's UI is still laggy.
A friend of mine has a Samsung s8+, it has an amazing screen but he said he choses the resolution to 1080p for better battery life. It's it's UI is nothing like my Oneplus 5T, mine is blazing fast, not even twitching when scrolling.
My oneplus 5T has superior battery too somehow and with the new antutu scores, my snapdragon scored 215449 on antutu 7.0.4 while his samsung s8+ exynos version scored 204118.
Samsung devices are cool for being water resistant, qi charging and they have good cameras. But i rather have a faster experience, better battery life and better gaming capabilities.
Anonymous, 05 Feb 2018if 5.0.3 is replacement of 5.0.2 why its size is only 39MB where as 5.0.2 size was ~1.6GB39 MB when you update from 5.0.2 to 5.0.3 as incremental update. Full size of it is about 1.6 GB (if you update from Nougat 4.7.6).
OnePlus overhyped the camera of OnePlus 5T like never before in the history of smartphone cameras. Its even worse than a few midrange phones. Its a fact, Period.Fanboys should bark now.
Anonymous, 05 Feb 2018Disagree. I am a OnePlus user, having used top-flight handsets from the big names (including A... moreHere are some facts:
1-over 40,000 stolen Credit Cards directly from their official websites (no thirdparty app or website) and i believe that number is Way more than 40,000
2-Spywares in their OS
3-Clipboard Story, copying and Sendung sensitive data to their servers
4-Sending data usage and other datas to their servers without any permission and silently
5-Unbeliavable horrible customer support (i have had an OnePlus 2 and went throw RMA already)
6-Horrible guarantee and reparier service
7-Buggy OS and updates
8-Overpriced devices ( the only advantage of OnePlus devices is CPU/GPU, no HDR screen, still no QHD screen, avrage to bad camera, horrible audio Quality, no SD car slot, no IP 67 or 68 mean it is not water resistant, lak of many many certificates for example you can't watch Netflix HD quality on your OnePlus device because of lack of a FREE certificate.
for me and many people Credit Cards and Privacy are Most important. It menas, Clipboard, Sendung data to diverse servers and Stolen credit card are enough reason to say this device is a cancer, it's a overpriced Spyware Junk. i'm really exited about your answer and argument about These FACTS
WOW cool, new spywares, i can't wait to see what are new Spywares and malicious in OxygenOS 5.0.3. please keep us up to date GSMarena with new OnePlus ugly stories.
[deleted post]ok they failed to update their S8 to Android O but anyway S8 Android N has no Spyware, doesn't send sensitive and private data to their servers, and no credit card was stolen from their website, no Clipboard data Report and no Benchmark cheating. maybe they do late updates but at least they don't do These sh!tt!e stuff. don't get mad just be realistic and accept OnePlus is a dirty Company.
if 5.0.3 is replacement of 5.0.2 why its size is only 39MB where as 5.0.2 size was ~1.6GB
ZloiYuri, 05 Feb 2018OnePlus is quite bad company. Sorry for informing you.Disagree. I am a OnePlus user, having used top-flight handsets from the big names (including Apple and Samsung). If you are going to counter me, please provide some facts.
Anonymous, 05 Feb 2018OnePlus is a good company, but why can't they get software updates 'first-time-right'? OnePlus is quite bad company. Sorry for informing you.
Anyone knows why OnePlus stopped the rollout of 5.0.2 and released 5.0.3?
In 5.0.2, OnePlus would install an application named "mkey"(only for the Indian handsets) that looks like a guitar plectrum and once you open it, It asks for so many sensitive permissions and has the potential to take sensitive message data as it sits in messaging.
Quickly, it was identified by lot of users and OnePlus stopped the rollout and released version 5.0.3
Stay safe.
I'm gonna wait until the second service pack.
OnePlus is a good company, but why can't they get software updates 'first-time-right'?
