The amount of Nokia bashers here are incredible. Anyway, I'm expecting a huge boost in sales (not shipment) for Nokia this November. N9 anyone? Russia first though, world later.

Talkonly, 29 Jul 2011To get no.1 spot is easy but to maintain it that's hell difficult. If samsung or apple making ... moreThe reason apple is going up is they know their market so well that almost nobody else in the market does and they use the reactions and behaviors of their customers to market their products. Just like the others they do not shower each n every feature in their phone but just keep adding in it over the period of time to make people stick around.
and what i see is if they are good at this they wont let this position go away easily.

I do really hope people here stop bashing Nokia for not getting Android (because of pride or what so ever), because the fact that they tried to approach Google and they get denied.

Pls enough of the topic Android on Nokia because it will not gonna happen anymore. Nokia is trying to survive and kudos for them.

johndr, 30 Jul 2011Nokia should really reconsider Android as their OS. Pride will get them nowhere. Before posting a comment, please read articles in the net saying that Google REFUSED to let Nokia use their Android System because they dont want the king of mobile phones gain another EDGE to its competitor.

Thats why they negotiate with Windows.

              is iPhone a SMARTPHONE?

              I don't think so.

I've just updated to the latest Windows Phone 7 Mango build. Based on the amazing speed of the operating system, the more complete feature set, and the upcoming lawsuits against Android manufacturers vs. Microsoft's contractual indemnity against their OEMs, WP7 will definitely skyrocket the sales of Samsung, HTC, Nokia, and LG. Apple will most likely be #5 in 5 years.

I will admitt I was going to get an android phone (instead of the nokia n8) but with the symbian update it seems to have made it alot more afficiant and staple and smoother and better....
so now am going to stick with my nokia n8 cause I believe the next update is a big one (symbian belle)

AnonD-1131, 30 Jul 2011Nokia will be able to modify WP7 while those "monsters" you mentioned offers vanilla... moreI think you are right there, ive just updated my nokia n8 with symbian anna and it seems to be a better device everthing is alot faster and smother, I believe the next update is belle and it is going to change it completley (it is going to be like android with its pull down menues and all) so I think nokia will suprise everyone.

I'm disappointed in Nokia. I'm not glad that they're losing out at the moment, but I want a WP7 phone and knowing them, Samsung will have a better product by the time Nokia decides to get off its arse.

                            *sigh* it's a shame

There is a limit on the number of cores you can put in your phone. There is a limit on how much you care about apps.

There is no limit on how you can improve the UX. In the UX wars, Nokia is now KING with the Nokia N9. This is where iPhone capitalised. The orb thing seems stupid. The race to a refreshing UX is where the battle is; not in market share.

nokia has been the world leader long enough since the selling of the best phones/smartphones, it's a good time for nokia now to rest at 3rd place. . .nokia will be having its big come soon enough with a big bang!
