Samsung dropped to third because people realised its rubbish. Amazon tablets are so much better.

Why bother with developing high end if "nobody" cares for it.
Most people probably buy tablets for their kids and to watch vids in bed. I certainly do - I bought 4 (including iPad Pro) and gave it to my kids and my mom to play with.
Wana best tablet and use its power in 0,1% of scenarios? -> Buy Apple one.
Wana tablets that do 99,9% of what iPad can and costs 1/5 of the price? -> Buy anything Android.
Win-win situation, isn't it?

And for competition that is bad...
iPad is the best device there for reading ebooks, editing video and so on. What is wrong with Android manufacturers that They can not compete? In phones there is competition, so why not in here?

I'm still using my Sony z2 tablet Lol, tbh it's still decent now, I'm stuck on marshmallow but at least it's not a completely antiquated version like KitKat. I can mod it to have oreo though and have pretty much all functions working.

The best android tablet that came out last year was the mediapad m3. Huawei knows what we need in a tablet. Samsung is still confused. The harman speakers on mediapad is above everything else in android, only competition so far is the iPad pro 12.9. SAMSUNG makes laggy tablets..When you use the mediapad you will never go back to Samsung laggy business.. If you're in search for an Android tablet I suggest you boycott Samsung until they make another real note tablet without a glass back.. The seperate pen from last years tablet was a mess.. No inspiration whatsoever

Soon Samsung will start to loose everywhere.. they don't pay attention after sales software support. People will eventually know tgat samsung makes 2/3 phone in every month - that's all ..

At least low-end Android tablets are better than ever, simply because Cortex A7s are dead and A53 are the new low ... and A53 can do pretty much anything BUT the most power hungry games (which there are not many, to begin with).

Sadly S820, Android 7 and 4:3 screen (unlike older 16:10) + not even MHL + even its price that's not really interesting enough (IMHO).
I was this close to buying Tab S3 but bought 12" laptop instead ... at least my laptop receives updates.

I have an old Nivida SoC based tablet that I got for €90, don't ever see me getting another, it does 110% and more what I want it to. Tablets are a closed product for me. I bought a high-end laptop last year instead, use it every day.

Since Apple is the only one producing something that can be called a high-end tablet, I am not surprised with the results.
+ Sadly Intel and lack of usable SOCs prevented Windows-based tablets from taking part of the tablet market.
