AnonD-5197, 01 Aug 2011Learn to read the financial statements. ;)i do read the statements but you my friend need to learn to read.
I'm sorry but i'm starting to get the impression i'm the only one here who knows how to read.

Also the Defy used only an 800MHz processor vs the 1GHz processor found in this nokia device, don't forget the fact that the Defy ran this "resource" hungry OS vs the sleek symbian Nokia ran. So again, why didn't my Motorola Defy lag while scrolling through facebook? PUAHAHA.
AnonD-10946, 01 Aug 2011You might be the one to read over Nokia's financial statements.
http://press.nokia.com/201... moreit seems you cant tell between symbian devices and dumb phones.
q3 2010 nokia sold 26.5m as opposed to 16.4 in the previous year same quater. uptrend or downtrend?
q4 2010 nokia sold 28.3m as opposed to 20.8 same quater previous year.
q1 2010 nokia sold 24.2 as opposed 21.5 previous year and that too without having an s^3 low end smartphone! Even the c6 01 is till date not available worldwide.
You not only need to do some reading, u need ur eyes looked at. Symbian sales were always going up.
Oh and by the way, if you knew anything about industrial analysis, you would know yoy comparisms are the more accurate means to establish a trend.
well another pointless excerise. just scraping the barel. bit like having a 1ghz pc on windows 98.
roll on win7 nokia's

So now that Nokia has a 1GHz processor and still shows lag it has to do with a social network UI implementation? hypocrite much?
At 1:31, the slow scrolling you see in FB feeds is because of buggy OVI Social app.Processor has got nothing to do with it.
rofl 1ghz :)
Not "being a hater" to you kids, but open your eyes, that old architecture+OS combination makes this phone looking slow/laggy as you prefer.
That girl was pressing the screen like it was a resistive one, maybe too much unresponsive due to lags ?
My old n900 is barely slower than this, and my SGS1 has nothing to be compared with that one even in stock 2.1 last year's rom.
Nokia should make a teaser with "less opened applications" to be sure to show something smooth to potential customers, wtf 34 apps running? Is that a computer with 4gb ram ?
Hopefully it wasn't heating up with such a performance demonstrated.

What you're reading is YoY change which is irrelevant as that is not an indication of company profitability but has more to do with the economy, and since the world's economy has started to rebound over the past 1-2 years of course sales are increasing as well.

Gem86, 01 Aug 2011This is just not true. Nokia's figures have been dropping since long before Elop took a seat. ... moreNokia's market share was dropping.
Nokia's sales were going up. Just not as fast as the competition. I don't think Elop was appointed to put an end to the 'problem of rising sales'.
He was brought in to speed development. To make changes to the companies structure. Not kill their only real product.
I believe nokia is working on a new os. even a 5 year old child with an unbiased mind would know that the single os strategy was a load of crap. Especially when you can't really customize it. And definitely when microsoft requires its logo on all products.
Elop stated specifically that nokia would continue to advance on the ui in the n9 in future products. The n9 might be the last meego device, but it would definitely have a sucessor with compatibility fot the same apps, thanks to Qt, and the same ui.

SFAN, 01 Aug 2011But N8 had many defects. Many customers returned it for a refund or for repairs. What Elop is ... moreNo ones being a fanboy, but u sure as hell are being stupid.
1 Back in the years, around 2004, nokia made a switch from s^2 to s^3. They increased the screen resolution from 178x208 to 240x320 and did some other major stuff and lost all compatibility with previous apps. That was a major change and the customers didn't mind.
The single reason why symbian development is slow is because the fools at nokia are trying to maintain backward compatibility. Elop did not have to kill symbian. All he had to do was make it work. With an installed userbase of over half a billion, symbian is still, even now, a force to recon with. Its not just sales numbers, there are more symbian smartphones in circulation than all other oses combined.
2 lets say the symbian brand is damaged beyond repair. Why would a rational ceo announce the company ditching its current os when they have no new product in line? I'm a symbian user, but i've used an iphone(i'm boycotting android. hate google.) and i agree they are ahead of symbian in terms of usability and consistency but still, i tell you, if Elop hadn't made that announcement, symbian sales would still be going up as they were before. Infact, i predict a rebound with the release of nokia new line up of midrangers.

It's not meant for you obviously, so don't comment. This is the successor to the 5800, which sold quite a few units from memory.

You made my day :)
[deleted post]Yep :D
Sybian time is over, I love Nokia phones but I don't like that much Symbian anymore.
Nokia need an transition and need it now, I hope WP7 Mango can help Nokia but the progress with Microsoft OS and gain again users confidence will be slow and maybe painfull for Nokia.
Sincerely I want Nokia come back from their errors I like the last phones E7/N8/N9 BUT I still not like Symbian not anna/belle whatever...The E7 is beatyful and well made it, aluminium and glass make it just amazing, keyboard is firm BUT the OS kill the beast.....
No more Nokia for me until they release WP7 and PLEASE keep the good quality built on Nokia phones...
All the respect that Nokia gained from launching the N9 is lost by releasing this phone. They have got to start all over again.
