Anonymous, 08 Feb 2018This is capitalism.Without it phone will be indestructible and no need to be upgraded ever again if it never broken or obsolete. Progress will slow. Sales will drop super low. No one need a phone anymore, right. No demand, no production, no sales. All the world tech companies went bankrupt. Our world scientific progress completely stopped. Who need tech company anymore. They are no longer needed. We dont need new phone as you all said. No need new laptop, tv, other appliances. The one we have is good enough to be use forever if it can last for eternity and never becoming obsolete. Dystopia...such a wonderful world isnt it? A world without progress. Just saying.

A peaceful world indeed. But a nightmare for phone company that cannot sell any phone anymore if no one need new phone ever again. So, they make low quality product that goes obsolete in 2 years or broken easily. This way they can continue their business and sell things to us and people will keep buying.

Also, while 10nm may reduce power consumption, it may instead of doing that, offer more performance at similar powerlevels (guess which option Apple opted for).
Next to that, Apple's A11 SoC has the option of using all cores at once, unlike previous SoCs, meaning it can pull even more power technically.
Time will tell what will really happen and how much Apple's words hold true.
