Watching a video of an N8 recorded by an N8 on an N8.
AnonD-171, 02 Aug 2011look at your smartphone and thank nokia, cause if nokia never did what they did you would know ... moreActually no skippy, we have to thank Apple for the touchscreen revolution and for making a real smartphone.
Had there been no Apple, we'd still be using some dual sliding N95 remake with Symbian S60v3, woth probably FP3.
Google search "N87 prototype" that's what you'd be using now.
When Apple unveiled the iPhone, Nokia was totally unprepared, it showed that they had absolutely no plans for a touchscreen phone, then they resisted and used the resistive screen and Apple yet again showed that capacitive is better. In the end the market forced Nokia to try to adapt but it's too late.
AnonD-171, 02 Aug 2011look at your smartphone and thank nokia, cause if nokia never did what they did you would know ... morecontrary to popular believe Nokia is not The Source of mobile phones. There were Ericsson, Siemens, etc... serious network equipment manufacturers who developed basic mobile stations (aka mobile phones) to boost up technology and make it market friendly.
Not much of you will be paying attention but I will write anyway. I saw this video earlier so I will be writing what I remember liking.
I liked the fact that Back button is back to where it should be at first place - at the left side. On right side it is just too easy to close an application. My personal preference place would be top right.
It "Looks" better compare to how it is now. I hope camera UI will remember its settings, new arrangement seems easy to get to now in camera UI. Let' see what more it will bring since first we need to get to the Anna. I hope Bella will come in my lifetime. :)

1 The galaxy sII won't last five hours at 100 percent processor usage. FACT.
2 The processor on the galaxy s consumes more power than that on the xperia arc. FACT.
AnonD-185, 02 Aug 2011My first question would be, where is your source of information that the Nokia 500 won't have ... moreYour vista vs win7 analogy is totally flawed because symbian is nothing like win7. Its more like win 95 !!!

If you think that more cores invariably means more battery consumption, then you're absolutely wrong. Power consumption depend on many factors ranging from core architecture to clock speed. A dual core processor can be much faster than its single core counter part yet consume less power. By Laws of physics: less power consumption = less heating (at same efficiency).
An example of faster processor consuming less energy is core duo from Intel which showed 400% performance per watt increase over pentium 4. Also the tegra 2 which is apparently more battery efficient than a8 cortex 1 ghz processor.
AnonD-252, 02 Aug 2011N8 does actually lag a lot, especially the browser!
Android 2.3.4 is not a "power hog&qu... moreCan you compare the feature load of the android running on the blade to that of say the galaxy s talk less of the s II? Not all droids are equal.
And even still, the blade is a lagster. Even the htc chacha with its low res display all lag horribly despite their low feature load. Android is by far more power consuming than symbian and even meego. Its a virtualized os.
All nokia symbian devices are capable of exactly the same tasks software wise. Try watching 360p youtube and your blade.
IS camera button on the screen copied from Android???
Is like all this fanboy android user don't have anything reasonable doing, wasting their time talking shit about nokia. Let people who know what smartphone is present their preview.
imranrulez, 02 Aug 2011That's what you call a smart phone mate... Android is for people who are smart and Symbian is ... moreExcept that in Stone Age, people didn't have 12MP camera, HDMI, USB OTG, FM transmitter, and loads of features first introduced by Symbian.

They have copied t... moreNobody cares about Anna and Belle but us, Symbian users, as we also don't care about Gingerbread and Ice Cream Sandwich. The point is Nokia N8 will be a perfect device when it finally gets this much-awaited Belle update.

I have an Apple iPhone 3GS...it never lags the way I see this phone does....and mine has a 600MHz cpu...
..oh, and neither my gf's ...she has the first gen iPhone with only 400MHz cpu, plus it's a 2007 phone...so in terms of speed, I don't know about this Symbian, I would go for an Android with my eyes closed..
Nokias are the only devices the guys reviewing'em have to touch the screen for a few times before something happends. I've never seen a video review of a Nokia showing one-touch=one-action as I've seen it happend with Samsung LG Apple or HTC. Even in real life, I see people with Nokias touching the same spot many times before it works...I'm not comparing Nokia with my phone or my girlfriend's...we both have Apple, but my mother has a cheap Samsung Spica and every action requires no more than one touch...so it's either the phone or the guys reviewing...
Is not responsive ... not at all ... symbian is down
This guy made the phone look sluggish and unresponsive...or maybe it really is so...
I'm tired of reading all about nokia this, droid that, ios this, bada that... First, aren't you suposed to comment about "Symbian Belle gets an in-depth video preview on the Nokia N8"... Second, at one point the similarities are going to be innevitable. Like it or not. And I think it's a good thing. And third, wtf NOKIA, I only go for nokia and was giving you my money all my life and what do I have from it... Shame
P.S. Sory for my english
i wonder if nokia specifically only have one phone with meego OS so they could steel thier ideas and build it into that crap Symbian they call a OS because its looking exactly the same
is our narator here aghast? :)

The most powerful android SGSII have battery life up to 4-5 days, smooth ui, smooth just about everything, overheating problem solved with an update... SGSII will become the standard of Android soon as the OEMs are forced to compete. You better find a better argument.
