How can it be significantly cheaper to produce than the 800 series? Wouldn't they be better just producing less variants.

Well if all rumours are true the S670 will really be a premium midranger & closest to the flagship series ever. They cut performance core's to only two which in most use cases is enough & slightly lowered their clock to 2.7 GHz (vs 2.9 on S845). The most promising part is a GPU as what rumours say it will be a 3/4 of flagship A63x size compared to the up to 1/2 the size up to now. It will be the most up to date power/performance SaC ever made. The one thing that rumours don't show is RAM controller & let's just hope QC didn't crippled it much compared to the S845.

Nobody even used the sd660. The price of it isn't worth it considering other manufacturer can give sd835 for lower price. This sd670 will be a flop too.

660 popular? ROFL.
This thing was essentially rejected by almost every manufacturer, not because of performance but based on Qualcomm charging an arm and a leg.

your own phone finder manages to find precisely 15 devices that use 660,hardly "popular",specialy in comparison to 835 which your system finds 29 of.
As a "feature" stereo speakers are more "popular" at 21..

Great SoC that we'll probably never see in more than 1 or 2 phones. Phone manufacturers have learned that they can get away with sticking 8-core A53 chips in everything but flagships, and I expect this trend will continue with the A55. SAD!

Previous leaks in Dec 2017 SD670 suppose to have 4 Kryo 300 gold core (semi customized cortex A75 core) and 4 Kryo 300 silver core (semi customized cortex A55 core) and SD640 having 2 Kryo 300 gold core and 6 Kryo 300 silver core. Right now the latest leaks show SD670 taking SD640 specs, ii is mean SD640 being scrap
