I hate pure android! google graphics and UI and UX Designers are worst among giant brands! but MIUI is not a UI with some Bugs! it a Bug with some UI! albeit it is not bad for day to day use but when you like to do some advanced user stuff, you can't actually do anything!

apple should have excepted after the Note 7 recall, that posting a farcical supposed, unverifiable, 0.000001% lead in the market, would cause the public to consider the circumstances of the Note 7 problems. We don't always pull wisePr coupes.

        MIUI is a weird beast.

It extends Android, yet it maims it completely to make it look like iOS, for instance, there's no app drawer. Also MIUI removes some critical AOSP features, like making it possible to independently change screen and lock timeouts. MIUI notifications are also quite beyond what even Android 6.0 has. Android 7 allows to reply directly from notifications which is impossible in MIUI.

The security center in MIUI is also something messy: it groups together very different options and hides them from the settings, so as the user you have to use two groups of settings - again, it's absolutely illogical and doesn't make any sense.

Xiaomi should haven't copied iOS, they shouldn't have removed Android features. Instead they should have extended AOSP, like many other vendors do, like Motorola, ZTE and OnePlus. That would have been a much better OS than a broken mix of Android and iOS.

Also, AOSP has perfected its settings and MIUI reshuffles the settings in a very incomprehensible way.

Android one is brilliant, basic and functional, mi A1 is exactly what I need in a phone and hope the security updates will be supported. If so I hope Xiaomi bring out more phones with the Android one firmware, I will keep supporting them if this is the case.

For sure MIUI is superior to pure android. People want Android One, because they are frustrated Xiaomi doesn't update the Android version of their phones, but only the MIUI version. This is stupid unless they are still on Android 4.x. MIUI offers great features, and for sure is a reason for me to buy Xiaoimi's devices. I had installed MIUI on my other devices when I didn't use Xiaomi phone.
But maybe Xiaomi should listen some how to people's voice and use as a base for MIUI Android One.

                    Oops :)
I have Mi A1 because it has stock Android. MIUI is too much for me, I don't care about the extra settings, themes and stuff, I didn't even change the default wallpaper. It just works as is, but faster. MIUI is too confusing, illogical, and you can't delete icons, everything has to be in your face. Sure, you can group them together, but wouldn't it be simpler to just have a separate all-stuff screen and the home screen like Android One has? Plus, there are settings in Android One that I can't find in MIUI, or it's hidden very well...

Plus, the android one takes up too much space with its dedicated partition, so despite the fact that it's "clean", it's like it has the most bloatware.

No idea what do people have against miui.

I have used pure Android on my Nexus phones and am using MIUI 9 on my Redmi Note 4 SD version. I prefer the MIUI better because of the cool additions it brings to table. I think "regular" users prefer a ROM that already includes all the needed features instead of beginning to install apps from Play Store.

You can do a poll for Sense UI vs Stock Google... It's definitely Sense wins

                                And HTC never lags!

I understand why Ivan told his old phones stories how he wanted stock.... He and most people were coming from Samsung and touchwiz!

                                Off course!!
Why majority want stock android? Because they had bad experience with lags....

As for me, I didn't understand why you want stock.... My ignorance is because I'm always with HTC, the apple of android realm!
                                It all makes sense now...
