Anonymous, 13 Feb 2018Dual cam setup is same of Huawei. 19 MP rgb + 12 MP monochrome. So you can take beautiful Monochrome pics? Why we got then cameras and screens in color... Would make sense if google or htc used one with their stacking of color shots, look at huawei how it not help reduce color noise. Better not be it.

Sorry im not a camera pro but i do understand what you are saying. Im just a practical one and was very satisfied with the quality of pics taken by xzp and beside they have this manual mode which i took advantage of and im not that kind of person who just shoot and go. Anyways lets just wait and see.

Rear mounted finger print scanner, dual camera set up, 18:9 display.
Boy if this is true are the sony fans gonna have some slick stance adjusting. After all, they have been for a while now going on about side mounted finger scanners being the 'best' placement, and both dual camera's and 18:9 displays being nothing but unnecessary gimmicks.
I hope this is true, for two reasons, first it'll be fun watching the above happen, and two I think this could make sony more competitive in the mobile space.

The best part is it pnly took a few minutes for one to get so upset by it. When really it wasnt anything major or bad. Except the sudden deathm otherwise few marginal chagnges. Not even claiming it to be bad.

I just hope Sony continues to improve well and even better.
The XZP and XZ with a few since last year were great steps at showing what they can do and improve. Get back in the game.
And if they finally started getting their sudden death issue under control I'm sold to try out a new phone soon.
But they hold themselves back. Especially the last few years. Their tech, capability, And yes enough of their money could nudge things just a but more in certain areas and make a killer device challenging for the top. And it would be making them much more money too. Yes they are always nice, but could easily be so much more.
1.Make those speakers a lot better.
... very simple.
2.Camera.
A. Hardware
-They need to combine EIS and OIS together. EIS took years to get near the level fanboys claimed it. Until a couple years ago it sucked in comparison. But it's great now. However, there are just things that OIS helped so much more with and as a whole. And others have just as good or possibly better EIS too now. And it's shown to work well if you know how to calibrate both.
-You need an better aperture. Seriously. I understand some things are a little better at higher apertures. But again not the whole picture. On phones Especially it means better low light, midnight, and even sometimes slightly brighter environments. Everything can just process faster and a little more accurately.
F2.0 when we F1.6 And about to get a variable F1.4 or 1.5.
Technically it is out on a less mainstream device already. Samsung android flip. Maybe others Variable, Yes variable. And with F1.4/5 back up to over F2.0. It's definitely time to step that up.
Though i know they handle iso better than most. Just like their actual cameras.
-Yes the focus works very well for being just their hybrid phase detection. But dual pixel is clearly faster. Use dual pixel, make the hybrid better, incorporate dual pixel. But improve it. Though obviously it's good enough to not be quite as important as the rest of the improvements.
-The sensor is great. We all know that. Though they flat out lied on how much bigger the pixels got. But you can catch most companies in at least one or two flat out lies sadly.
B.The software. They stepped it up. And obvioisly noise alone doesn't mean worse. It can actually mean better. But as a whole we know the processing needed some work. Of course you would always hear about the update that was coming to fix it from all the fans. ... Yes it did happen. ..i read it very often here....from years back....
But still not the worst. And definitely improved. Especially recently.
Take that up a bit with the better hardware and boom. Beautiful 18-22mp sensor that works like a champ. One that could possibly stomp or least actually challenge the top... Not fall short, but still get praised as winning by all these eccentric fans.
.......Though it looks like a lot of typing it's pretty simple things and fairly easy for them to do still.
3.
A. Sudden Death.
1.Deny it here all you like. Anyone who actually owned a few Sony's or had one or two for a while knows about it. If you are in denial or just need proof just Google search almost any model of Sony from at least the Z..Z not Z1..Z... And up to the Z5 even. And even side models T And aqua And taco i think lol. And talk about the screen not coming on or black screen or won't turn on. ... endless pages littered with it.
Sadly both of mine. Z3 and Z Ultra :'( I can't play with them. And too impossible to fix sometimes for most.
It can vary from a few seconds or minutes and a being a minute issue.... Though at times periodically or often which is a pain. Almost like something that happened with custom roms if they had bad glitches. Or a bad wakelock issue.... But its worse.
Or Onto days, weeks, or just permanent. And with it happening to so many people and being so common it's really hard and timely to find out when it's actually bricked.
Which leads to the next issue.
......Considering its only them I'm taking it as laziness though i dont know the truth for sure so maybe easy maybe hard. But work in it either way. It's outrageous to have gone on so long and effect so many.
4.Customer service. Seriously. It's appalling. Especially when you are not under warranty. Cause at that point it doesn't exist. Literally not figuratively. Especially fun when dealing with the sudden death. A manufacturer defect. Manufacturers fault....But you don't have warranty they can't help with anything except maybe some questions or simple things.
But a major issue or needing any sort of repair? You will get transferred to some other company that is supposed to do the repairs.... But ends up not having the parts, selling parts... Cause that was another claim, or doing repairs. Then told by Sony to go to Amazon or a like 2 or 3 other sites like that to buy whatever part you need. How the heck do you know what part for sure you need? Or if it's something that requires micro saudering?
Then the best you can do is just get a whole new motherboard. But that's costly, not easy for everyone, can still run into issues or another bad one.
And not all models are even available.
What kind of solution is that.
So it's basically buy a new phone for many. Which leaves a bad taste and sometimes lost data too.
And most other places only repair the screens. And even they can't easily promise it being water proof again.
This is atrocious.
5.Marketing and even more so releasing.
A. You don't have to go overboard and beyond. Pushing the limits in budget. But get it out there with a good elegant Sony fashion commercial.
B.Release it!!! Their relunctancy to get more models out and available to people has really held them back. That and the whole "Z4" thing.
Or like the z3v on Verizon just being a rebranded Z2. There was good reason to choose a Z3 over Z2 and it was a dirty tactic on both parts. From a much SoC, decently better speakers, a ram chip on the screen that helped the same screen go brighter and be more efficient, better dimensions and battery, better in camera mostly software, and better software package and overall one of those gaps that actually makes a difference in device longevity.
...... again... not that hard for them.
6.Yes the bezels need worked on. However thats it. Worked on. Contrary to hate talk the design hasn't changed much aside from evolving. But that's because it doesn't have to. It is elegant and in this day a lot more refreshing and unique compared to all the same slabs. However... It could definitely use some trimming and improving in efficiency. It doesn't need to be bezeless. That's crazy that people think every phone should have to look that way.
But XZP is massive compared to Z3 their two year prior flagship. With nearly the same size screen and battery. And speakers not that much better. Camera improved some.
Anyone that doesn't see how absurd that is, is just blind or in denial.
.....prett easy for them to do.
So improve the camera and speakers a bit and trim the design. Make an arc like style for a model even. And just freaking release it. Make sure it doesn't constantly crap out on everyone.
Bam!!!!!!!!! Sales for years. Profitable machine and amazing device. But no. They just float along instead.

It wasn't til just last year they increased pixel size. And yes i think increasing the pixel size to 1.2ish while keeping a good resolution like 18mp is good middle ground.
But when aperture stays years behind and they are too stubborn to incorporate OIS.
Sure true low light photography needs a good set up. But that's no excuse and doesn't negate the usefulness of these 1.4-1.5um sensors with f1.5-f1.8.
It makes a huge difference. And not just for dark either.
Those sensors generally handle lighting and exposure better, dynamic range, focus faster and more accurately, and ever boost up speed and quality in normal room lighting and very dynamic outside settings.

how is the non removal of a feature make the product any worse? on top of that to the point of not buying the product.
Prefer bluetooth headset: go on and connect to it. having a 3.5mm jack wont stop you. however, remove the 3.5mm jack and outright block all those who rely on it.

The aspect ratio of 18:9 with thinner bezels will definitely be an excellent leap for/from Sony. Hopefully everything will turn out to be true and that we'll see it as soon as possible at the MWC.

And no the dac is not that great. The amp is probably better though
