Brave decision by Samsung and a sign that they are a manufacturer that truly puts getting it right before getting it out.

A beacon of light.

Are people actually serious? They obviously pulled out for whatever reason and people still complain. Does it really matter if you get the update earlier than others. As long as you are guaranteed the update for however many years you will get it. Just relax and wait. "But nokia has it" so what...? Go get a nokia then. I swear, people just rage about anything especially when they don't know what is happening on the backend.

They wait that the new model come out for a few week to rank up sales before giving the update its pathetic.

Glad i am using an essential and receiving update MUCH faster.

I was also telling myself that the long time waiting for Samsung to officially update their phones to Oreo just means that they are going to provide the most stable and reliable version of the same OS.

After seeing obvious bugs in Oreo on my S8+ I think this is a good move, pity they didn't pull this earlier.

Big companies like samsung & lg should and can follow this. They earn enough to have extra team exclusively for this and why not with ever increasing cost of phone.
