AnonD-708551, 15 Feb 2018So we shouldn't buy 845 then coz the 855 will destroy it like when 835 did that to 820.Lol, 835 destroyed 820? Do u even know what u r talking abt? 835 did nothing to 820 apart from add 4 low power cores that in 90% of the cases makes no difference. While the single core performance remained exactly the same and GPU was only marginally better...

Anonymous, 15 Feb 2018So you're saying that with sd855 we could charge our phones once for 2 days.Nope. It's either a performance gain or the efficiency gain. Most makers will choose performance gain so u end up with same efficiency as current processors.

snapdragon 835 don't have neural unit and here you can clearly see that kirin has more than 30 fps in ai test and iphone has less than half of that

AnonD-434295, 15 Feb 2018Qualcomm become more like intel nowaday. They really need competition. more competition? There's exynos, huawey's kirin, Apple's A11 Bionic... There's a lot of competition.
If qualcomm didn't had all the competition we would be stuck with an old 32nm architecture.
If that would be the case, people would target huawey's kirin or samsung Exynoss making these companies even more richer.
Qualcomm has competition enough, in contrary Intel didn't had a competitor for years. Just these last 2 years AMD has been showing "some" competition but INTEL is still alone

Coming of 7nm Snapdragon 855 is surely predictable event. The question is when. When will we see the next gen phone using the coming SD855 AP chip? March or April next year, then it is just business as usual. Not much thing to talk about. The SD855 chip will be announced on November or December this year.

But what if the next gen phone comes out this year, like November THIS YEAR or even October? To do so, SD 855 AP chip should be announced officially on July or September this year. I bet on this will be the case.

I think Huawei make really decent chipsets with as good performance as snapdragon and also with neural unit which is actually two times faster than apple's neural unit in a11 bionic.
