I would like to see a contest for the largest sensor.
I'm not expecting medium format 645 or FF35 in a phone, but this race to the smallest sensor is an insult to human inteligence.
AnonD-793, 04 Aug 2011WOW .!!!
cant wait anymore ..im fully sure that galaxy s2 will be defeated by this sensor(i... moreSo you'd rate the performance of a device based on it's sensor.....weird.
I use mine to make calls too. AWESOME!!!
Anonymous, 04 Aug 2011yep diminishing returns , form or function itll come down toPersonaly i do not like bulky phones even if they have beter cameras or something.I would gladly sacrifice camera quality to get a slimmer phone that fits in my pocket more easily
Isn't OmniVision Technologies a affiliate daughter company of Samsung Electronics? I am pretty sure it's Samsungs own manufacturing and developing company in China. I thought Samsung brought more than 60% av OmniVision like 10 years ago. They even gave name to Samsungs Omnia Camera Series. In that case i don't Apple should mess with Samsung anymore and become friends. Because Samsungs owns a hell o alot of developing companies within mobile and microchip market. If Samsung cuts Apple of then Appla emight be in trouble.
Ashura, 04 Aug 2011True however if the sensor is too big won´t it make the phone a bit bulkier?yep diminishing returns , form or function itll come down to

Ashura, 04 Aug 2011Actualy i belive you are wrongi believe the gentleman was referring to the physical size of the sensor not its sensor size, and to an extent he is right as the smaller an electronic device gets the more prone to internalinterfernce it will become
WHO CARES about Apple Why do the media continuously make them a special case?

DanT, 04 Aug 2011The smaller the sensor, the worse the quality ... we need bigger sensors, not smaller.no, biger means more electronc noise...
Ashura, 04 Aug 2011Actualy i belive you are wrongoh really ?
why do you think DSLR have few times bigger sensor than normal digital camera ??
and while most digital camera are 1/2.3" , this new sensor only have 1/4" and that about half of the size of normal digital camera !
Which one was the best phone's camera using OmniVision module, does iPhone 4 also use their product ?

How do you say iphone 4 is slim.. its not i guess...there are even more slimmer models like LG Optimus Black and Samsung Galaxy S2
1/4" sensor !!!
normal high end phone using 1/2.5" sensor and their output of image is passable only!
1/4" ? way too small to produce a nice print.
Lets face it iphone 4GS is just going to be same specs as the Galaxy S 2 but with an apple logo on the back.
not bad
Good news. :)
