No 3.5 mm headphone jack = no buy! Are Sony... removing essential features so that they in a few years can bring them back again because they no longer can come up with any real new features so they need to make it possible to reinvent old features?
Sony needs to be better, have more features, than Samsung and Apple... if they want to be successful!
hoping the soap design is just a rumor. Why can't they just make 4.7 screen in a smaller body? still using my z5 compact.
Can we get Droids with top specs, but compact sizes (4" to 4.5"). 5"+ slabs are too big for some of us.
Ash, 21 Feb 2018I prefer to buy samsung S9.

They invented the 3.5mm jack with walkman ...why sony??.. Apple had tons of recalls and stop production of iPhonex due to no 3.5mm jack
No EARPHONE jack????? !!!! Well Sony , you just lost an xperia user for 9 years...... I'm not the last one... Sony Made walkman & the iconic Headphones.. Made recently popular by Guardians of the galaxy
Finaly Sony got rid of that iugly jack hole.
But still retains its price.
Mi7 cut SD card Slot, Jack, Oled instead of Amoled and lot of other things and their flagship is going on sale for 350 eur.
Sony cut just Jack but price is same.
A 5-inch 18:9 device sounds good only if sony releases it in my region.
Sony hasn't released their compacts in India since Z5 compact.
Oh oh, so finally are they going to release a bathtub of £706, €799, $987 without audio jack and a vulgar fingerprint sensor on the back? Someone at Sony wish end sinking their business. Can't wait to see the result and what was the last minute change in design but with that shape and rear fingerprint it's not for me.
Almost $1000 for the XZ2?! That's even higher than the $900 reported price for the Galaxy S9+...
Its very sad days when companies started to remove 3.5mm , people suddenly changes their mind and slowly dont care about them anymore. 3.5mm jack youll be missed (until Samsumg, LG, and thr others that do ditch it.)
2:1 5" screen is the same width as 16:9 4.6" screen of the current one but it's a bit taller.
I wish they went with 16:10 screen instead to give it more width but keep the height the same.
look at those prices! and look at that design. but it might be fake. else htc u11 & s8+ are the best android devices now.
What it should be;
= 5 inch screen 18:9 ratio, same as 4.6 inch 16:9, 4gb ram, 64gb internal, 720p - $650
= 5.7 inch screen 18:9 ratio, same as 5.2 inch 16:9, 6gb ram, 128gb internal, 1080p - $750
= 6.0 inch screen 18:9 ratio, same as 5.5 inch 16:9, 8gb ram, 128gb internal, 4k - $850
That way sony can sell better, not put XZ2 alone price at $1000 mark. Nonsense. About removing 3.5mm jack or not, I dont care anymore as nowadays there are many good quality cheap bluetooth earphone/headphone everywhere. They better be a game changer in camera department so it has some speciality. U can do it sony.
If Sony jumps the wagon and gets rid of the 3.5mm jack, I see no alternative but to switch to Sammy..
Sony, I love you, but no brand can stand between me and these 3 features :
- SD card slot
- 3.5mm jack
PS WTF is with that bloated back?! Bleahhh!
I prefer to buy samsung S9.
When sony busy to change the design of xperia, samsung has new tech for the camera.
I was xperia fanboy.
If these is the real future decision of sony(no 3.5 mm, weirded aspect ratio...) Then in few years sony will vanish from mobile industry as going on with HTC... I think this was the best time where 3.5mm vanishing sony would have come with walkman series with audiophile quality. As sony was the founder of 3.5mm jack it will be shameful if they only discontinue it...
I've long been a Bluetooth headphone user, nevertheless all Sony's marketers should be fired if they really think removing 3.5mm jack is cool thing to do.
Think twice and see what users want.
