Waterproof was perfectly fine with the waterproof jack that Sony itself created.
And "tiny"? Have you seen that dongle? Its enormeous, clumsy and ugly.
Really, I mean really, Xperia without a proper jack....no thanks, putting my hopes elsewhere.
The size is great... Except the thickness. It's not a phone anymore. It's a brick. You won't get my money Sony
At least when they unveil the XZ2 premuim ? Sony devices' design is going to be even worst than before !!😥😥😥

keep the compact tradition alive. I don't understand the madness among manufacturers to make larger and larger cells, not everyone wants to use their phone as a multimedia centre or a entertainment device, some people like to use them as 'phones'. I will be content with a 5 incher with good sunlight legibility, fast modem/internet connectivity, fluid and fast UI rendering (I would have preferred the compact with SD 6xx series, even without 4k HDR and other gimmiks), and a decent camera for occasional photography, the other thing not in taste i would consider is the glass back, why would you want that when you can get better grip on aluminium etc. why. and see that's the reason people subconsciously prefer iPhones, at leat i do.
Sure it is the best phone around ...
But sorry it looks like LG or something made in China.
Lucky me my Sony XZ1C is only 6 month old.
Xperia Z2 from 2014 looks way better than this midrange lookalike XZ2. I bet it'll cost $799 when Z2 only cost $550 at launch. With poor quality R&D they want to maximize profit, in order to blind us buying something that doesn't visually look good as Samsung Galaxy S9/S9+

They should have fired their design en... morebluetooth isn't your only choice. yes, they would prefer you to buy one of their new usb-c earphones or expensive bluetooth but there us already a FREE option included right in the box:
a small usb-c to 3.5mm adapter so you can continue using whichever earphone ir headphone you may already have
friends, i have a xiaomi mi 6 which doesn't have a 3.5mm jack, but includes the adapter usb-c to 3.5mm. there is no problem for me. expect a similar adaptor to be included with the xperias for your legacy earphones.
I was disappointed. as devoted sony enthusiasts. This time the sony enthusiasts will surely be buried

They should have fired their design engineers. Not to mention the old favorite headphone jack. Maybe they want to sell more of their high end Bluetooth headphones with LDAC that's why they removed the jack but I'm not a fan of Bluetooth headset because of the latency issue.
AnonD-690051, 26 Feb 2018wow.. wht happn to you?
you dont want to defend this brand again? you finally open your eyes?
They ommited the headphone jack. Thats an absolute dealbreaker for me. So yeah, not a fan of these Xperias.
Everything else on it I like, except back fp scanner and 18:9 screen, but I could compromise with that.
Really a shame, with all the innovations like 4k hdr video recording, haptic vibration system, new algorithm motion eye camera, 3d scanner on both cameras...that they come up with that, and jack the jack, the one of most important feature to me.
So yup, design is flawed and stupid. I just cant fan that.
And seems numerous other Xperia fans think the same, some about the fp scanner, some about downgrade of front cam....
All in all, it doesnt look good for Sony this time around.
And I seriously doubt they will keep the jack on upcoming XZ2 premium.
Guess they have to learn about arrogance the hard way, just like Htc did with the jack also, or apple with iphone X screen, or Sammy with S6 sd card.
treater, 26 Feb 2018Samsung sucks as it is Keep talking and babbling whatever you want. The new Samsung flagships of 2018 are better in any way than this Sony junk of this year. Sony not even design and produce processors for smartphones, for that and for other feature things that the Samsung flagships have you should shut up because you don't have any arguments for talking something against the the Galaxy S9/S9+ duo.

Dunno but it seems it's a bit of a gimmick until the reviews come in. Also maybe it's because they hace switched to a totally new form factor, it seems rarely any manufacturer dies it right, i think, when they jump on 18.9 or 16.9
Lemme get this straight:
The phones are quite thick, they have small batteries (compared to other flagships which are thinner) and thet do not have the audio jack?!?
Never let the intern design your flagships. Costs nothing, but will cost you now.
Also not jumping yet on QHD but jumping on 18:9 craze.. I am disappointed by this year's release, even if they finally gave in the people reclaiming an upgrade of their old box design (it was overused, but was better than this one, looks like the HTC U11).
