Is TCL mad? To think the Idol 4S was released a year and a half before, yet to me they only appear now to make low-mid range devices with exorbitant prices. To be fair, this is just 5, with no other branding, and this isn't a flagship, but I don't see how this chipset is more powerful than their previous top models. I think Alcatel is only budget device with premium design today. No matter how premium the phone is, beauty is in the eye of the beer holder.

Ugly black frame over the screen and then comes body paint. Why not use the body paint on the screen frame to. Makes it less stupid. When screen is shut off then it looks like edge to edge screen but when turned on you have a bezel frame on it
My 90 euro phone have same CPU but has 3GB ram and 32GB ROM

MTcrap for that just price just get th latest LOW-END SD 450 or even lesser 435/430 SoC based phones and is more powerful than any MediaTekcrap.

Let's see if TCL is ever able to produce an upgrade to Oreo for it... Considering their track record and the Mediatek SoC I wouldn't hold my breath. In any case, launching a new phone with Nougat in 2018 is pretty bad, especially since it's not even really a low end device.

How are they to compete with these phones?, they should've kept the front facing stereo speakers and extended them to more phones, maybe they'd set themselves apart.

In 2015 you could get a device with better specs than this for 150$. Lenovo K3 Note among them.

18:9 was supposededly used as to make use of the space formely occupied by bezels. Some OEMs hjust don't get it, so they put both a bezel and a tall aspect ratio making the phones more unweildedly than ever.
That tall alien looking motherf....er must be a b....ch to use and store... What are they thinking?
