Lukewarm. That's how I felt after checking all the official pictures. No doubt they all look pretty great for a smartphone camera. Low light samples are pretty but nothing groundbreaking. My S7 camera looks pretty similar and just as capable. Smartphones need big sensors like 1/1.2" sensors to step up the camera game. Hope GSMArena will do a S7 vs S8 vs S9 camera comparison pretty soon.
AnonD-731491, 26 Feb 2018my xzp makes better photos and better videosGood for you. Enjoy using it. We don't have to know about your love for your XZP.
Anonymous, 25 Feb 2018That photo of man and woman on the ground, near her elbow there is strong corner softnessIt is taken at f1.5 so it is not due to corner softness but limited depth of field. See the girl's hand is soft too and it's nowhere near the corner.
Wow That's Really Impressive ....
That made me go mad about more Camera Samples on YouTube..
Anonymous, 25 Feb 2018I switched to desktop mode, so I could apply the zoom tool we see above the samples. Many of... moreI agree. I noticed that all the photos at f/1.5 (the "amazing" feature they are pushing) are very pixelated when zooming in, so it doesn't seem that revolutionary (perhaps less noisy than other phones, but the photos still take a hit on overall quality). Also, I wasn't too pleased with the video samples. Honestly, from what I've seen here, things haven't improved that much since my 2.5-year old V10.
The photos in the day light seem very noisy and blurry.
Look at the photos outside the window of the car - it tries to fight noise so hard that it destroys the nose(first image, background girl) and teeth(both images)...
What i need to see in my next Note is: WiFi ax, 5G connection, 4K screen, really hi volume crystal clear 2 speakers, faster charging including real bigger battery. A bigger screen is slways welcome
Might be the internet conversion but there's so much noise in the darker spots of high contrast pics, video is pretty noisy and soft too
Anonymous, 26 Feb 2018If your ignore all the noise.
Check it on computer.. Is exactly for the noise that my expectations were surpassed, this means that the denoise Samsung usually uses was toned down.
I can see that they are making good use of the new aperture and HDR+. Notice how they take advantage to not push the ISO above 200-250 (which causes a little noise) and to not delay the shutter below 1/100s when possible, preventing motion blur when photographing people.
It's a very good demonstration of the camera's strengths.
Lol people are complaining so much like something's gonna beat this other than Google
Those night shots look great. Much better than my note8's. Impressive.
Still smudges people's eyebrows and facial hair like my S5 (well, even Pixel 2 does it, they are phones after all), but if I don't zoom to 100 percent it's very good. And better in the dark than most. Let's wait for a review and some comparisons with other phones.
Only way to evaluate the camera is by using it, I never consider serously "samples" posted like this
