They are just water resistant... moreWe have a DEFY and not only is the spec better than this Samsung, (5mp cam and Gorilla glass display for starters), but it has the same water and shock resistance spec. I have immersed ours in liquids to no ill effect. It is guaranteed to survive under 1metre of water for a limited period too. Surprised a year since DEFY was launched, Samsung have not beterred the spec. Incidentally, DEFY is fast enough despite 800Mhz processor. V happy with ours.

I do agree with you when you point out the OS in where the innovation resides. Seems like apple's legal team doesn't know how to defend there OS. Thus they resort to these WEAK appearance claims. This is an open invitation for comparisons of the physical appearance of the iPhone to preceding mobile phones. The iPhone shares attributes with almost all proceeding touch screen phones.
Get used to it, Anybody can point out that apple wasn't first, as long as they continue there absurd legal claims of patenting the appearance of a touch screen phone. These features were in the public domain before any of us had heard of the iPhone.

You call it copy most people call it product diversification. Either way, Samsung makes great phones and I'll continue to buy if they keep loading these phones with features and work.

I just might get this instead of the galaxy s2/ hercules, if it is much less expensive and is truly damage resistant.
My current galaxy S has over 20 falls, with at least 7 on pavement, and the rest on tiles/carpet/grass

Touch screen phones all look alike. big screen surrounded by various mechanical sensors and actuators. The inovation isn't in bezzel shape nor icon shape nor any other appearance. All have been tried a long time ago. the real innovation is done within the software with such things as multitouch. this is in the operating system not the hardware manufacture. Samsung is just a hardware producer producing products that look like other devices that use the same software. If apple feels they have been wronged they need to sue the real culprit the android OS designer, Google.
Seems like a fine product, every manufacture should have one or two dust and water resistant products for those who work in harsher enviroments. xman
