Sure Nokia will be the king

I think China, India and Africa are the markets to capture.
Heh! USA mobile market is a hard target!
It requires a lot of capital and advertising money and money to suport structure to become to USA market. HDM is building that capital at this moment. So it will come to USA when it is ready. Those who really want to get new Nokias now can order them from outside. But getting in to local stores is quite another task.
No phone maker that want to get really big can not avoid USA, but it is bad to try it with poor customer support or without proper maintenance system inside a country that is this big! 2020 or 2021 the HMD will march to USA. Let see if it can stay in here. The competition is fierce and hard!
For example Samsung seems to sell it phones much cheaper than other makers in USA compared to for example Europe. So phone makers have segmented the markets all ready.
AnonD-650430, 27 Feb 2018can I add that Oppo and Vivo are the top 4 and 5 but they are not available in the US.Yeah them to, the world doesnt need the US lol

Someone in the comments mentioned a very important factor: the cellphone market is matured, congested and has recently stagnated in developed nations. I think part of the reason why Nokia themselves admitted the US is not part of their short term goals is due to that alone.
The Chinese capitalised by understanding the need and demand for phones in developing nations. Huawei, Xiaomi, Oppo, OnePlus, Vivo, ZTE, etc. were all examples of this. US right now has strong preference for their own indigenous brands and market. Why do you think Razer, Essential, Red and Google create the buzz that they do. If Amazon or Microsoft decided to re-enter the cellphone market, they'd have more of an impact than companies which currently exist as a rebadged entities like BlackBerry, Motorola, Alcatel etc. And unfortunately Nokia seems to exhibit symptoms of the latter.

Also, people should calm down, eveeyb9dy has the right to enjoy technology and phones, and i am sure Nokia is gonna bring it to pther parts of the world like the US soon!
"Nokia will definitely have to stop ignoring the US market at some point in the next few years, especially given the lofty ambitions"
Why? Just to be stoped by Apple or Samsung? They don't need US market at all, all the money is in emerging markets and Nokia knows that, that's why it's a good thing to avoid US at least for now. When Nokia will be in Top 5 or Top 3 then they can snatch some profit from big players in US.
US out again?
Well, life's a bitch... "by A proud European citizen"

Samsung and Apple got the right idea, #1 and #2 respectively I guess.
What about the rest of my reasons #2 - #6? Are they good?

1. Consider that... moreI forgot.
6. To feed your employees and their family, just 1.5x or double the price of the flagship phone's real manufacture price. Don't triple or quadruple it like Apple and Samsung. They're not that expensive to make anyway.
Do you want to be in the Top 5 best selling Smartphone company HMD Nokia?
1. Consider that USA is equivalent to the world. If it's not selling well in the US, you're not going anywhere.
2. Keep the headphone jack forever. 80% of the userbase wanted that. Don't cater to the 20% like what you've done with 8 Sirocco.
3. Now that you're really part of Android One program, make best use of it.
4. Ask Sony to give you flagship sensors like IMX 400 or probably the upcoming IMX 500 for your flagship.
5. Perfect your camera algorithms without those seasoned technicians who moved to Apple for example.
"I wanna be in the top 5"
...well, your devices are overpriced, understyled, and under-specced.
So no Nokia, not with that attitude.
You don't just get to the top in a day, Apple invested Billions in shaping the iPhone to what it is today. Same as Samsung and their OLED display and Chip Fab business. Even Xiaomi had massive innovation and years to get to where they are.
1ns0mniac, 27 Feb 2018Its easily possible. They are gonna be in top 5 within next two years! I am 100% sure of it.Not if they keep coming up with garbage phones like the Nokia 8 or Nokia 8 siricco using a year old flagship processor in their new models with the price tag as same as Samsung S9 or any other newer flagship phones is just bullshit.
