Simon, 03 Mar 2018Such a waste of space! The only waste of space in this conversation is you. Have you tried it? Then you know very well how useles piece of shit this new tech is. Oh but no, because you haven't.
I work in Unity3D and created a prototype android application with a video to see if it could grab the audio from this. It couldn't, so clearly there is some work required to get it active.
Naturally if you're just playing videos in existing apps (native video player, youtube, etc) then that's great and all, but clearly if I want to utilise it in a custom build there's some switch somewhere to alter it - or at least something in code that is blocking it.

Im certain they got the idea from that, and not some Moto phone.
techperson211, 27 Feb 2018ANOTHER 1ST that everyone will say just "a gimmick" then after their beloved brand applied it,... morei had a moto rockr that did similar thing. Besides, my switch has a thing called HD rumble that works pretty much the same way albeit with games
i wonder if it's comparable to a subwoofer. nevertheless, great innovation but at the cost of 3.5mm, probably wait until 2020 when my XZs dies and hopefully, there will be a successor xperia phone which retains the 3.5mm ( after the backlash/poor sales) and if possible a xperia walkman with audiophile features such as 4.4mm and 3.5mm, os con capacitors aluminium milled chassis, isolated and shielded power supply
Can't wait to feeL it in action,,, great SONY innovation. Gonna be likes the movies. Haha
I don't know about others but if thats called innovation it will really piss me off that i will bang the phone to the wall and stamp it to crimps.
Pleasure, 28 Feb 2018There are many uses for a vibration motor.
It's too bad Sony isn't into VR. Vibration+ VR =... moreThat would actually be cool. Probably it works with VR games too. Would like to try Bad Dream or some other horror VR game with this XZ2. :-)
DVS is a great entertainment add on, especially for gaming, including VR.
It will remain on some future better designed Xperia too, Im sure. So Ill just wait for that.
pikapoo, 28 Feb 2018you won't get your jack back.

I ll switch to some future Xperia, thank you very much for your opinion.
There are many uses for a vibration motor.
It's too bad Sony isn't into VR. Vibration+ VR = great sales.
Tann Hauser, 28 Feb 2018HDR video recording, hdr upscale, this DVS system....
I wont consider this Xperias because o... moreyou won't get your jack back.
the reason why sony donate their ldac tech to the android project is purely for busines reason.
they want to increase their bluetooth headphones sales.
pick one.. keep your current xperia, or switch to other brand
I don't understand why they're wasting time on gimmicks like this when they should be improving their camera software so that it can at least take pictures as good as their competitors' devices using the same camera hardware that they created.
Daany, 28 Feb 2018No I don't think so(that thing is mostly scary but cool at times)... This will give a woofer e... moreNaah..now u are just wishful thinking...it aint gonna be anything like a subwoofer....if u even have a basic understanding of how a woofer works. Its just gonna be like a dual shock playstation controller thats gonna give a ooumph factor to the sound .IT SURE IS GIMMICKY...
Anonymous, 27 Feb 2018Jojo said it best: too little too lateHDR video recording, hdr upscale, this DVS system....
I wont consider this Xperias because of lack of jack...
But definitely not too little too late, as these are futureproof innovations, and much more important than what other OEMs offered.
Oppaii, 27 Feb 2018I wonder how it feels like ...does it feel like the same as DualShock4?No I don't think so(that thing is mostly scary but cool at times)... This will give a woofer effect. That vibration in the room that comes from turning up the woofer to the loudest. It usually shakes the glass in cars(Even homes too). That's what sony is aiming for. It can't be as powerful but the closest thing at the size of a phone... It's basically going to kick A.S.S. It's a crazy one this time. (YEAH RIGHT THEY CALL IT GIMMICK) I see what sony did there...
I just hope the vibration syncs perfectly. It will though, IT's A SONY!
