Consumer Reports purchases their own samples and it doesn't take advertising, from Apple or anyone else. They recently slammed the Home Pod, for example.
I can see their point, as Samsung still oversaturates and clips at times, more than the other major phone makers. The iPhone 6s takes some really well-balanced photos, with better color accuracy than the S8, which may explain why they ranked it high.
The Pixel is just not a mainstream brand, so it is reasonable to not be included in this survey.
This kind of article does draw the nuttier fanboys in droves though....

Hard to take this seriously as Pixel has one of the very highest scores by so many. Not only that but seeing it first hand from friends units, the results are phenomenal.

pixel 2 has one of the best cameras on the smartphone yet people would say iPhones are the best because they pop the skin colour make u look beautiful and what the hell people need more than satisfaction.

It's no surprise Consumer reports' subscribers (which will predictably use Apple and Samsung the most),would only list such phones.
The sample is just not big enough to be taken as a reliable result.

samsungs can take the second place followed by lg..

We should all heave a sigh of relief that the report didn't say it takes better photos than a Phase One XF 100MP Medium Format Camera and better videos than an Arro Alexa.
